What would be a good present for a woman's 60th?

It's my boss's 60th soon and we're all chipping in to get her something nice/ fun.

Any ideas as we don't actually know her that well!

A never fail gift for me is a nice indoor or outdoor plant with a nice pot.

literally my idea of a present from hell!!

Some nice cashmere bed socks.

I am nearly 60 and would prefer it to be ignored, so check that she is OK with presents etc.
But if you absolutely have to buy something, please let it not be "stuff" that is just going to clutter up her house. So some kind if experience, be it theatre tokens, membership for an art gallery or smart cinema chain. Then at least she can pick an event she will enjoy.
Definitely NOT Prosecco (yuck) or anything described as "posh", which is just another word for "tat".

Why are chocolates always suggested? My mil is the only one who likes receiving them. If I receive them I give them to her!

I will be 60 soon and would say always experiences over “stuff”. It is so nice to have things to look forward to.

I’d get someone to discreetly ask her.

I agree. I would hate people spending money on me for something I won't enjoy.

Nothing worse than gifts which shout "I thought someone turning 60 must have/like/use", just because it's a certain birthday.

DD's Scout leader is nearly 60 and she is the last person for scarves, afternoon teas or similar. She would prefer hiking boots, a tutor session with a rifle instructor and some very expensive rum.

Another vote in the 'please just ask her' camp!

My mum's colleague called me before my mum's 50th and asked for ideas - She said "what about a Pandora bracelet?". I said "definitely not" she has very simple taste and wears minimal jewellery. Gave colleague several other nice ideas instead.
Lo and behold, what does mum unwrap from colleagues on her birthday...a Pandora bracelet 🙄She's now 61 and has still never worn it! Such a waste of everyone's kind contributions.
