We've always been with a green energy company that is exempt from the current price caps. The price difference has always been small enough that we've thought it worth paying extra for truly renewable source energy.
But now, even with the supposed energy price guarantee, it's going up to 49.7p/kWh with a standing charge of 53p/day, and we simply can't afford the increase. We could, however, easily afford what most other companies are offering (approx 34p/kWh - which is less than we are already paying since the last price increase!).
I tried looking to switch supplier today but nowhere is taking on new customers because of the prices meaning there are no cheap fixed deals - but I don't want a cheap fix! I just want to switch my standard variable DD to a different company that is actually honouring the price guarantee.
To add insult to injury, our supplier has a default tariff that people are being moved to if their fixed price deal is ending, that is actually in line with the 34p/kWh everywhere else is offering. But we aren't eligible for that tariff as we aren't on a fixed deal that's ending. WTAF?
