What in the fresh hell is this D and V bug?

I'm 50, 5 kids ranging from 9 to 30 and never in all my years have I ever been this ill 🤮

Started on Friday ( ds 9 had it at the beginning of the week ) then Dh then me ...

I was sick 9 times in 2 hours so I phoned the gp as I just couldn't keep anything down and they prescribed me buccal prochlorazine - managed to stop being sick but then on Saturday I couldn't eat without being sick, same yesterday - today I had a solero and that's come straight back up. I had a temp on Friday and Saturday as well as a stinking headache but that's fine now.

She seemed worried about ketoacidosis as I'm a t2 diabetic but obvs it would have escalated I think. I take Ozempic. Metformin and Jardiance for that and I haven't been able to take anytbign because I'm struggling to keep much down.

How do you know if you are deydrated? As I said the rest of the family have had this and recovered quickly ( apart from the runs) but I just can't stop feeling nauseous and being sick. 😭 fuck me this virus whatever it is has boots on!

How can I settle my stomach to accept food and drink again?

A few months ago I had something like this, also went into ketosis. In the end I had to go into hospital for fluid and an anti sickness injection x 2.

Given your medical history I'd be seeking further help.

Wagsandclaws · 26/09/2022 16:48

Yes maybe you are right. I'm waiting on gp to phone me back - thank you.

This sounds grim. Hope the doc gives you some advice. If you feel you are getting very dehydrated, you will have to go to A&E, awful as it sounds in your position to get IV fluid. So sorry for you, I’ve been there. Get well soon!

We all had a really vicious one about a month or so ago. It totally floored me and the DC. They seem to get worse every few years. Massive sympathies. Hope you get some help from GP.

Muddlebubble · 26/09/2022 18:38

Omg i made thread about this too.

It is utter hell. I haven't been sick but watery diarrhea is like nothing i have ever had before with the bonus of body aches (which have stopped now) but fever on and off and a horrendous headache.

I called the doctor as it was just getting worse and worse so going in tomorrow for blood test and urine and stool test.

It feels like it is never ending yesterday i had no temp all day then today it all started again.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 26/09/2022 18:47

I had this last year. Spent four days sleeping on the bathroom floor. Never been this ill ever. I have worked with kids most of my life so my immune system is very good. But this floored me.

Wagsandclaws · 26/09/2022 19:32

@Muddlebubble oh that's awful, I saw your thread, I'm wondering like others if it's campylobacter- I've had that and it's awful.

I hope you feel better soon I really do Flowers

Gp prescribed some anti emetic tablets - Dh gone out to get them as I can feel another 🤮 coming 😭

Hope you feel better soon. Probably not the most exciting advice but get some dioralyte in you for electrolyte replacement (if compatible with medical conditions etc) or if not that something with electrolytes in like a sports drink or coconut water.

Backtonormal12 · 26/09/2022 19:54

Weve had a bug too OP although ours in diarrhea rather than vommiting. It took a week for me to catch and off DS and another week after that for DP to catch it from me.

DS cleared up after 3 days, I'm 9 days in and still cant keep any food in and DP is only on day 3 so time will tell.

Some really awful bug going round!

Muddlebubble · 27/09/2022 06:44

I have my stool sample ready to roll for the doctors at 9am today and blood and urine tests to be taken so i may find out what actual bug it is. I can keep you all posted.

My poor daughter (16) is in the thick of it right now too poor thing.

I started taking imodium disolve tables yesterday and really has made a huge diffrence so anyone with diarrhea and is aloud (medication etc) should try that

Winnietheshite · 27/09/2022 06:50

We've had similar in our house. I was sick one night but then never off the toilet for about a week. DH was sick loads over 48 hours then had a lingering bad stomach for a few days. DS2 was sick loads one day but then was fine and DS1 didn't get it at all?!

It's going round the school evidently as a few kids and parents from DS2 class have had similar.

Muddlebubble · 28/09/2022 12:34

It will be a week tomorrow for me and still going, still feel dreadful.

Bloody test revealed high levels of inflammation, waiting on stool sample results

Wagsandclaws · 29/09/2022 09:24

@Muddlebubble any news? I'm a week in now and still being sick once or so a day and have the awful runs - I'm wiped out with the nausea 😭

My Dd just had covid, these were also her symptoms.

MuggleMe · 29/09/2022 14:01

I swear by flat full fat coke once you've kept boiled cooled water down for a few hours, then slowly moving onto the brat diet.

Wagsandclaws · 30/09/2022 10:38

I wouldn't be surprised if it was covid, I'm a week in now and I've finally stopped vomiting but I have the sweats and feel very weak.

It just doesn't seem like the standard norovirus.

OP posts:
Muddlebubble · 02/10/2022 19:09

No news from the doctor yet, i called friday but results were not back yet.

Still not great, horrendous stomach pains still although not going as much as i was its still there.

Definitely not covid here, tested everyday.

I fell asleep today and slept for 4hrs im still so tired. Day 10 here

Muddlebubble · 03/10/2022 17:40

Just got a call, i have campylobacter, from what i don't no.

So ive got antibiotics hopefully it will help and make it go away

lljkk · 03/10/2022 17:51

I think noro is hitting ppl hard because so many of us haven't had it for years so now "It's the very first time" all over again. You need to be exposed to noro lots to not find it so hard.

Similar to covid or flu etc. I guess.
