We don't. Have maybe ....10 a year maximum.

Not that we don't enjoy them, we just don't do them regularly.

Most people I know still so the Sunday Roast thing. And my SIL will often have a mid week one too.

Most weeks we do.
I normally just do a quick version with roast beef, chicken or gammon, roasties, broccoli, carrots and peas.

Use ready made yorkies and Bisto best gravy.

Doesn't take long and everyone loves it.

DelurkingAJ · 26/09/2022 08:17

Probably three weeks out of four. DH loves one and the DCs and I are relaxed. Meant we could expand to feed two extras at a couple of hour’s notice yesterday by upping the number of roasties and veg.

BudgetBlast · 26/09/2022 08:18

Mostly all of mine love them I’m not so fussed. They are very easy dinners so I don’t mind, prep veg bung everything into the oven make gravy and yorkshires. Very simple to cook.

EveryLeafSpeaksBlissToMe · 26/09/2022 08:18

In the summer we have a bbq, but otherwise a roast dinner is a Sunday staple in our house, or lunch out. For us, it’s a tradition. My DC love it. I work some Sundays but otherwise Sunday is a stay at home and chill with a long cooked roast. A bit like a mini Christmas Day. We always have roast leftovers on a Mon night.

I used to live overseas and did this religiously. I see it as part of our culture and it’s a very nice thing to do. I’ll often invite family or friends too.

Hbh17 · 26/09/2022 08:20

Blimey, no. Been married 30+ years and it's never happened!

Mommabear20 · 26/09/2022 08:21

We have a version once a week, but it won't always be a joint of meat or chicken, sometimes we'll have pie, or sausages, and the things we have with it varies week on week too, sometimes roasted potatoes, stuffing Yorkshire puddings etc. only at Christmas and occasionally on birthday do we do a FULL roast dinner. I'd rather go to a Carvery than faff with a big one if we want all the trimmings

TheLongGallery · 26/09/2022 08:21

Over the deepest bit of the Winter so Nov to Feb most weeks.

365millionusernames · 26/09/2022 08:23

We have one ever week from September through to summer. It's not always on a Sunday though. I do always do the full trimmings etc but have done it so many bloody times now it's become easy as it's habit. The DC and DP love a roast.

Luredbyapomegranate · 26/09/2022 08:24

No, we did as kids though, at least in the winter.

I’d like to do it more in the winter.. I don’t necessarily want to cook them though, that is the thing.

Tisfortired · 26/09/2022 08:24

I do a Sunday roast probably every other week, and on the in between weeks do something of a similar vein eg beef stew and mash or last night we had curried root veg and lentil stew.

through the summer I don’t do a Sunday roast at all but summery version, eg maybe a spatchcock chicken with salad and bread/potatoes.

we are a very busy household so I love to slow down on a Sunday and take the time to make a meal we will all sit down and enjoy together.

Good4you · 26/09/2022 08:25

Yes I do as they are my favourite - Roast chicken, roast vegetables, stuffing, Yorkshire puddings, in the summer we change it to a bbq

Decafflatteplease · 26/09/2022 08:27

Not every week but most weeks. Sunday is always a bit more of a special meal and usually a nice dessert to go with it aswell.

It's not that much faff, we usually pop a chicken or gammon in the slow cooker all day, frozen roasties and Yorkshire's dont take long in the air fryer, ready chopped or frozen veg and gravy granuals. So basically a roast without using the oven!

Or it will be something like a lasagne, something we wouldn't usually have midweek

RedHelenB · 26/09/2022 08:28

We do but have it for tea usually rather than dinner.

Disneygirl37 · 26/09/2022 08:32

Yes every Sunday evening. Its the one meal everyone loves!

KangarooKenny · 26/09/2022 08:32

No.

ihatesoaps · 26/09/2022 08:34

Every Sunday! My kids are all in their 20s and we all live a roast. Sets us up for the week...
Sundays wouldn't be Sundays without a roast

LittleFriendSusan · 26/09/2022 08:49

Probably most Sundays during the colder months, though it's usually a basic version (meat, roast or new potatoes, a root veg & usually a couple of green veg, packet gravy with added meat / veg juices). Lately has mainly been done in the air fryer / instant pot due to lack of functioning oven! Pork yesterday, with roast potatoes, swede & carrot mash, cabbage, green beans & apple sauce. Usually have leftovers then to be used in another meal Tue / Wed. I only ever do stuffing at Christmas & Yorkshire puddings probably once every few months. On weeks where we don't have a roast joint, it's usuallly something like sausage, mash & veg, toad in the hole, pie & veg, etc. so still something with veg & gravy!

Summer months we tend to do barbecues or something like a side of salmon, sometimes a pie.

LittleFriendSusan · 26/09/2022 08:51

Also tend to have ours later in the day, so anytime between 4-6, depends what we have on that day. Earlier than our usual dinner but not quite lunchtime either (usually have a substantial breakfast / brunch to keep us going).

Goldmember · 26/09/2022 08:55

I love roast dinner, my family are not fussed so I don't generally bother. Maybe once or twice a year. Roasting meat is getting expensive, especially lamb and beef which are my favourites.

cormorant5 · 26/09/2022 08:57

Frequently, usually cook veg in oven with it. Usually get joint larger than one meal so we have cold meat for sandwiches or with a salad.
Ham hock after one meal provides basis or two stews with variety of beans.
Chicken and pork or ham is still good value along with pheasant, now season started, venison can be good value if you can buy it in other than ultra fashionable butcher.

EspeciallyDivided · 26/09/2022 09:04

No, we had our first since last Christmas last week and that was only because DS (who hates them) has gone to uni now and we are no longer ferrying both DCs around to sports on Sundays but we are still out and about a lot, Sunday tends to be a busy day in our house. We very rarely have any "meat and gravy" meals TBH, none of us are all that keen.

RoseValleyRambles · 26/09/2022 09:04

Yep, in autumn / winter. Roast on Sunday, and leftovers on Monday. Limited trimmings, and we use things like frozen Yorkshires to keep it easy.

slo · 26/09/2022 09:07

Yes, most weeks but I don't cook it. We go to the pub.

neerg · 26/09/2022 09:09

We have roast chicken , bread and salad in the summer.
A full roast most weeks in winter.
We also have 'quick roast' regularly in the week- chicken breasts, auntie Bessie roasts, tinned peas and carrots.
Lovely!!!!

KarenPiriesTankTop · 26/09/2022 09:11

I don’t mind it - don’t know why people find it a faff though, it’s just meat cooked slightly longer than most, with veg and potatoes
