Do I have unrealistic expectations re window cleaner?

2 bed flat on the 2nd floor. £35.City in Scotland.

He's done it all without coming into the actual flat. So just done from the ground or on a ladder (I didn't see) with a brush on a stick (I did see this) and he's only done the outsides of the windows, I'll still have to do the insides myself. He didn't dry them off and although they look better, they are not completely clean. Still a trace of bird poop on one.

What do you think?
Thanks

I have never had a window
cleaner come
insise and don’t they all use the telescopic brushes nowadays? Otherwise he’s needs a long ladder and someone at the bottom. I think yabu but the price sounds a bit steep

GrowOneStrawberry · 21/09/2022 16:11

House.
Telescopic brush.
Left wet.
Never inside

All normal.
. Mines £12 South

abovedecknotbelow · 21/09/2022 16:13

They don't do the inside.

I live in a three bed semi in SE London and it's £10 for the front windows. I think they're taking the piss.

Never known a window cleaner to do inside?

OldEvilOwl · 21/09/2022 16:14

Window cleaners don't do inside! sounds expensive and a shit job though. Find someone else?

Wibbli · 21/09/2022 16:15

South West (expensive area) and we only paid £20 and that’s for all windows and fascias. Again, never in the house and always left wet. You are being robbed if you are paying £35!

Window cleaners don't do the inside

notaladyinred · 21/09/2022 16:17

Window cleaners don't clean the inside. Mine uses water filters that mean it dries without leaving smears or water spots so it's meant to be left wet, I expect most do the same. Not unusual for small difficult things to be missed (like very tough bird poo) but it is a pain. Difficult to scrub from the ground. £35 is a lot though.

NewBootsAndRanty · 21/09/2022 16:18

I've never heard of a window cleaner doing the inside..

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 21/09/2022 16:18

Of course they don't come in the house 🤦🏼‍♀️ what you've described is perfectly normal, i've never known a window cleaner to dry the windows

TheGirlWhoLived · 21/09/2022 16:20

We’re in south of midlands and ours is £15 but he does a sterling job! Sills and edges, doors and patio windows - telescopic brush thing here too

properdoughnut · 21/09/2022 16:21

They only do the outside. I know its a bit odd, like they are only cleaning half the windows!

AuntieDolly · 21/09/2022 16:33

£35 seems very expensive. I've get my house done for 17.50 (south east). Definitely get them back to clean off the bird poo for that price!

DoAllMyOwnStunts · 21/09/2022 16:45

Thanks all. So what do I do if I want my windows actually clean? I had a guy in my previous city who came into my flat and opened the windows inwards to clean both sides.

No window cleaners do inside!

Mine charges £30 for four front windows (2nd/3rd floor so not straightforward)

ChipsRoastOrBoiled · 21/09/2022 16:49

Get yourself a cleaner? Do it yourself?

Changechangychange · 21/09/2022 16:49

Yep, inside is a cleaner’s job.

Buy some Windolene.

DoAllMyOwnStunts · 21/09/2022 17:04

@girlmom21 thanks. Ever heard of disabilities?

Mine will actually. We're too tight to pay for that though.

@girlmom21 thanks. Ever heard of disabilities?

Ever heard of giving the full picture so people can help?

DoAllMyOwnStunts · 21/09/2022 17:11

@girlmom21 why is disability relevant to whether my window cleaner is doing a good job or not? Why do I have to specify that I am disabled? Can't you just assume that someone who has to outsource domestic tasks may have a jolly good reason for it?

Better just to apologise when you have been thoughtless.

Have never ever had a window cleaner come in to clean the inside of the windows. My last one used ladders and washed by hand. My current one uses a brush pole system thing. Tell them if they aren't fully clean and they'll go over that bit again.

You'd have to pay someone else to do the inside. Weird isn't it.

dementedpixie · 21/09/2022 17:14

And they leave them wet if it's the brush pole thing. It's purified water they use
