Do I have unrealistic expectations re window cleaner?

2 bed flat on the 2nd floor. £35.City in Scotland.

He's done it all without coming into the actual flat. So just done from the ground or on a ladder (I didn't see) with a brush on a stick (I did see this) and he's only done the outsides of the windows, I'll still have to do the insides myself. He didn't dry them off and although they look better, they are not completely clean. Still a trace of bird poop on one.

What do you think?
Thanks

Our window cleaner cleans the windows inside and outside. It seems perfectly normal to me so I don’t understand why it’s considered odd?

Amazongirl9 · 21/09/2022 18:40

Ours uses water fed. Not really a window cleaner more of just a glass cleaner. I end hanging out of the windows trying to clean the frames and sills. Thought I was hard done by but at £15 for a large 4 bed maybe I’m going ok.

Because the vast majority don't.

I was £2 a window in my flat. Same style cleaning as you are getting. When i moved out he did the inside for the same price. Im NE Scotland

My DM has one that comes inside to do a couple of inside windows for her- a big one and her conservatory. Don't think it's that unusual just maybe not part of the standard service.

@girlmom21 why is disability relevant to whether my window cleaner is doing a good job or not? Why do I have to specify that I am disabled? Can't you just assume that someone who has to outsource domestic tasks may have a jolly good reason for it?

Better just to apologise when you have been thoughtless.

That response wasn't to whether your window cleaner was doing a good job. It wasn't in response to you acknowledging it wasn't your window cleaners responsibility and asking what your options are.

Your disability obviously affects your options.

Yes. You do have unrealistic expectations of window cleaners.

That said, yours seems a little pricey unless your windows are absolutely massive and / or you have lots of them?

Oblomov22 · 21/09/2022 18:47

Our old one did inside and out. Best thing ever.

hariseldonscalculator · 21/09/2022 18:49

@AllPlayedOut that’s not actually a reason why it’s so uncommon …..you’ve said that it’s uncommon because it’s uncommon?

ContadoraExplorer · 21/09/2022 18:53

We couldn't get a window cleaner to our 3rd floor flat in glasgow but they were double glazed so I just used to do both inside and out myself by opening them.

Our 3 bed semi is £10 and he uses a ladder to do the outside and I do inside - those telescopic brushes are rubbish.

properdoughnut · 21/09/2022 19:01

I guess it's not common as it involves going up and downstairs in and out of rooms, moving clutter, the risk of being accused of theft if you move something, or break something.

ultraviolet4753 · 21/09/2022 19:04

Our 3 bed bungalow in Greater Manchester is £6 for 6 windows and 2 doors.

If I asked him to do inside (I am disabled, they have gone years without a clean), I would get laughed at.
