Wedding dilemma

Iamgonnasuceed · 20/09/2022 15:06

We're invited to a wedding (in laws) and there's 2 peopleI I absolutely don't want to see or even them to see me they've done us bad in the past so they're dead to me. It's 300+ guests wedding but apparently we will be sitting at the same table as them I don't know how big the table is or the table plan. How can I avoid them?

OP posts:

I can imagine op is HoppingMad after derailing her own thread.

7Worfs · 20/09/2022 15:33

Hoppinggreen is an eminent poster with one of the best MN stories (the newborn and the layers of clothing)

Am I?
I have hit the highest pinnacle possible and my life will be downhill from this point.
Although I do wish my “fame” wasn’t down to being a complete idiot

She was hopping mad to start with 😂

I can surely spell stupid!

You seem lovely.

Micecrospies · 20/09/2022 15:39

All thoughts of a reasonable sympathetic reply have faded with your first response OP as you have now foisted all empathy towards the other guests at your table.

you don’t seem the most er easy going?

britneyisfree · 20/09/2022 15:41

No point moving it HQ.... you'll have to put it back in a bit 🤣

Bananalanacake · 20/09/2022 15:41

300 guests, that must cost a fortune.

This is possibly the greatest understatement since Noah took a look outside and said, "Hmm. I think it might look a bit like rain". Grin

MsFizz · 20/09/2022 15:42

Sorry I don't have advice for you OP but please can you ask the bride and groom if there might be another couple of seats free at the table? I'd really like to go myself now 🍿

7Worfs · 20/09/2022 15:43

I’m reminded of another quintessential ‘frazzled new mum’ story but can’t recall the poster - basically she was worried about yellow scabs on the baby’s head, it turned out it was dried food from her lunch (says me while dropping crumbs on my baby’s head this very minute)

Surtsey · 20/09/2022 15:48

How can I avoid them?

Three options:

one - ask to be moved to another table.
two - ask for them to be moved to another table.
three - if neither of those are forthcoming, then don't go.

Surely the B & G know about this feud, so why would they purposely sit you with these people?

SafeMove · 20/09/2022 15:48

Can I politely point out that somebody else's wedding isn't really about you OP. Might want to explore why you have automatically made it about you, your dramas and why this might lead you to having lots of aggro. In real life and online it seems!

Doingprettywellthanks · 20/09/2022 15:51

They had to invite the Op, but don’t want her there so this is their solution to get her to decline. Clever couple

Oooh. So cunning a plan you could pin a tail on it and call it a weasel.

SatInTheCorner · 20/09/2022 16:02

Never disappointed MN.

LookItsMeAgain · 20/09/2022 16:09

Contact the bride/groom who is putting together the seating plan and ask to be put at a table as far away from this couple as possible.

That's about all you can do.

Hadjab · 20/09/2022 16:10

I get the distinct impression it's the B&G that OP is trying to avoid, and she's the Mother of the Groom...

I'm curious, What's the story?

maddy68 · 20/09/2022 16:11

Either don't go or be polite the wedding is not about you

Completely this.

They are obliged to invite but really don't want them to go they are obviously attention seekers and tehirbparebts have made them invite them 🤣

Whataretheodds · 20/09/2022 16:16

There are some really good invisibility cloaks available nowdays, bit te drawback is you might not get fed.

BruceAndNosh · 20/09/2022 16:18

Surely you just ask Bride or Groom to put you on a different table?

heldinadream · 20/09/2022 16:23

Don't think OP's coming back. We dun her bad. Now we're dead to her, seriously dead.
