Which room is the untidiest in your house?

Teenage daughter’s room!

After the summer holidays it has got really grotty. It’s getting me down and I feel like blitzing it while she is at school. She will do the basics eg dust the shelves, put dirty clothes in the wash but it needs proper decluttering, hoovering behind the bed and between the cupboards, sorting out clothes that don’t fit any more, organising all the shelves. It’s too small for her now she is a teenager but I don’t know where to start!

What’s the worst room in your house and are you avoiding it like me?

It used to be DD's (7) but I blitzed that towards the end of summer holidays and it's so far stayed relatively respectable. So now it's probably my bedroom - as a PP said it's where all the homeless/waiting for charity shop stuff/ironing pile gets shoved 😔

HeadacheEarthquake · 19/09/2022 22:10

Glad I'm not the only office victim here

MrsTimRiggins · 19/09/2022 22:11

I hate it but definitely our bedroom, the only room safe from my chaos whirlwind baby son 😂

allboysherebutme · 19/09/2022 22:33

Kitchen. X

ItsnotaHenryMoore · 19/09/2022 22:34

Laundry/utility room - everything gets shoved in there.

MooseBreath · 19/09/2022 22:37

The master bedroom. It is the lowest priority in the house because only DH and I see it, and any crap can be shoved inside for an "out of sight, out if mind" result. Downside is having to block out the mess if we get in the mood for anything beyond sleep.

KittenKong · 19/09/2022 22:39

At the moment - all of them (even the hall). It’s a rats den.

AlwaysLatte · 19/09/2022 22:50

The spare bedroom tends to be a receptacle for putting stuff, as does the office, which also has a sofa bed. So when we have guests we have to make sure they're clutter free. It's actually quite good to regularly invite people as it doesn't get TOO bad.

PeaceLily2000 · 19/09/2022 22:50

Our spare bedroom. This will eventually be our baby's bedroom once she is no longer in with us but it's currently an dumping ground for all baby items waiting to be sold or donated.
We also use this room to get ready so there are usually clothes etc on the bed.
I do hoover and dust (around the crap) once a week though

megletthesecond · 19/09/2022 22:54

Teen DD's room. There are pants with sanitary towels stuck to them in there. I dig them out a few times a week along either food wrappers, half eaten food and cutlery.

Teen DS is fine. No mess drama at all. My room is tiny and cluttered but not dirty.

@TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination ffs we get it, Dana!! You’ve got a pissing YouTube!!!

@NCFT0922

What??

it's not me you fool.

I'm very much English, in England

she's very much American, in America.

plus a LOT of other differences.

As I said, her YouTube videos have been life changing for many people. Her system is easy to understand and follow. She doesn't puss about organising things, she HELPS people to understand that having too much 'stuff' is what makes life hard, what means that no matter how much you organise, if you have too much stuff you can organise until the cows come home, but it'll only stay like that for 5 minutes. She HELPS people learn how to declutter, how to decide what to keep and not and how to do it without making a huge mess in the process.

I have seem so many people benefit from her help that I just want others asking for help to know she's out there & her system works, whether you just have A messy room or a house that's a serious problem.

if you don't like my posts, do feel free to scroll on past!

but I am most categorically not Dana! 😂😂😂

Kitchen. It's tiny so even a cup or plate left out makes it look unkempt

RoseMartha · 20/09/2022 00:13

The teenagers room. Even if I go and Blitz it, it looks a tip within a couple of days. Last week they could not even be bothered to put their laundry bin by the washing machine, so I refused to wash the stuff that was in there.

AnnieSnap · 20/09/2022 00:22

Kitchen, closely followed by the main bedroom 😳

pompomdaisy · 20/09/2022 00:28

Currently our dining room because we are decorating the cloakroom and all the coats and shoes are in it. It's depressing me!

ChipsRoastOrBoiled · 20/09/2022 00:35

Our bedroom. We're both terrible at putting stuff away.

FreezyFreezy · 20/09/2022 00:40

Dc1's room, followed by dc2's room. After that it's the dining room.

Dc1 has adhd and never puts anything away. His bedroom resembles a bomb site but is messier. We go and help him tidy it every few weeks but it always back to being a tip within a few days.

TheOnlyBeeInYourBonnet · 20/09/2022 01:13

DS18's room. I'm adopting 'the swamp' from a pp above, fits perfectly.

I wouldn't care so much if he didn't help himself to his brother's clothing when he runs out of his own, it causes WW3.

The rest of my house is tidy.

TheLongGallery · 20/09/2022 01:47

Conservatory, we have just redecorated the kitchen diner so chucked loads of stuff in there. We are also having major declutter. One large bag of bric a brac to the charity collection so far and maybe a carrier bag of weird bits to the bin found in the kitchen such as a plastic rack that belongs to nothing and old kitchen weighing scales that don’t work very well. It’s a pull everything out scenario.

speakout · 24/11/2022 12:32

Apart from the garage and loft it will be the living room.
It's a big room, but alsdso my work room, always piled up with boxes, tape, craft stuff, candles.
November/early Dec is my busy time, I wait until everything has been posted, then have a big clear up to make way for the tree and chriastmas.

MajorCarolDanvers · 24/11/2022 12:39

My husband's study.

RollMeOverInTheClover · 24/11/2022 13:15

My husbands study! Drives me nuts. He’s a hoarder and doesn’t file anything, plus we walk through it to get to other rooms so I can’t just shut the door on it! I’m on a mission to get it tidy…😂

von1471 · 25/11/2022 18:20

The spare room; I have no children left in the house so everything gets dumped in there.

AgathaMystery · 21/12/2022 00:58

My office is quite awful.

I have a LOT of kit for work and not enough space to store it. I am at a loss.

stillsmilingtoday · 21/12/2022 05:54

Attic room called Room of Doom which has all the crap that makes anywhere else look untidy shoved into it. Pronounced with very long oooos so they rhyme.
