I hope those bearers get something....food etc , something special.

I think there'll be personal thanks from HM and the family.

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 16:25

@Cameleongirl I noticed that as well!!

PlacidPenelope · 19/09/2022 16:25

The bearers have been utterly magnificent; I am in awe.

Me too, I so much admiration for them.

AlwaysLatte · 19/09/2022 16:25

Been trying to see if there's information about ths pall bearers. So far all I've found is one of them is only 19!
I'm not surprised actually. With the weight of a lead lined coffin and all the time plus stairs, I'm sure the very youngest and fittest were chosen.

Bouledeneige · 19/09/2022 16:26

Gruelling day for them all.

SpongeCake23 · 19/09/2022 16:26

I’m wondering when Edward will be made the DofE as was his father’s wish.

Bacibaci · 19/09/2022 16:26

The choral singing is v special.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/09/2022 16:26

Ok, why wasn't this organist playing at Westminster? This is sublime.

itsgettingweird · 19/09/2022 16:26

Hopefully not for a good while though. KC3 is not a smoker and very clean living, so unlikely to die soon

Ds and I had an interesting conversation earlier.

My mum died young a few months ago. Cancer.

My dad is KC age and his mum loved to 98.

We said that his and KV death could also be so very close.

It just seemed so odd because I'll be their age by then and ds my age.

It wasn't a morbid conversation just more recognising how it feels off to have lost my mum in her 60's because it's so young nowadays.

MarshaBradyo · 19/09/2022 16:26

Beautiful service

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 16:26

I hope so .

Some memorabilia, something to hand down the generations for prosperity.

idonotmind · 19/09/2022 16:26

They must have been very fit to carry the coffin. A few beads of sweat appeared at the end

Pedallleur · 19/09/2022 16:27

Perher · 19/09/2022 16:19

Do we know who the magnificent pall bearers were?

From poss The Queens Company of The Grenadier Guards with a Warrant Officer at the front giving the instructions and an Officer at the rear

In awe of those boys carrying the coffin.

If they don’t need to carry her again then who will?

If it is like Prince Philip's funeral the coffin is lowered into the vault below automatically.

CaveMum · 19/09/2022 16:27

Just spotted Richard Hannon Jr and Andrew Balding, two of HM racehorse trainers.

Dinoteeth · 19/09/2022 16:27

Is Fergie at this bit?

RedToothBrush · 19/09/2022 16:27

What to expect from this service, from BBC:

The Imperial State Crown and the Sovereign's orb and sceptre will be removed from the top of the coffin by the Crown Jeweller, separating the Queen from her crown for the final time.

At the end of the last hymn, the King will then place the Queen's company camp colour, or flag, of the Grenadier Guards on the coffin. The Grenadier Guards are the most senior of the Foot Guards carrying out ceremonial duties for the monarch.
At the same time, the Lord Chamberlain, former MI5 chief Baron Parker, will "break" his wand of office and place it on the coffin. The snapping of the white staff will signal the end of his service to the sovereign as her most senior official in the Royal Household.

The Queen will then be lowered into the royal vault and the Sovereign's piper will play before a blessing and the singing of God Save the King. The performance by the piper at Windsor was something the Queen had personally requested, Buckingham Palace said.”

Remember the piper at Phillip's funeral? Anyone who still had a dry eye was gone...

uhtredbebbanburg · 19/09/2022 16:27

Oh Windsor. This bit with her pony, dogs and staff is incredible. The carpet of flowers. Music in the chapel is also lovely. I’m glad I kept on watching.

Dave20 · 19/09/2022 16:28

The coffin bearers did two duties really- Westminster and Windsor. Almost like two funerals in one day.

WildfellAnne · 19/09/2022 16:28

Loveholidaystoomuch · 19/09/2022 16:22

In awe of those boys carrying the coffin.

If they don’t need to carry her again then who will?

No one. The coffin just gets lowered into the vault, I think.

MinglingFlamingo · 19/09/2022 16:28

He's the crown jeweller I think

Makes sense, thank you

Wheresmymoneytree · 19/09/2022 16:28

TokyoSushi · 19/09/2022 15:49

As long as they don't bring out the dogs! I don't think I could cope!

I wish they had! Although I’m now blubbing at the idea of my dog being stood there for me

LikeTearsInRain · 19/09/2022 16:29

Do all the guards live in barracks or do they go home to their partners?

Sammysquiz · 19/09/2022 16:29

But it then needs to be moved again. The private burial service is this evening.

WanderingDreamingSpires · 19/09/2022 16:29

There was also a bit from Mahler 5.
