Benefi this is a chat forum .

If you don't like the comments why are you on here.

You tried to imply earlier that I was disrespecting national dress when I was surprised to see two men in shorts and sandal's 🤣.

Windsor 🏰 looks amazing.

Kate has to wait for Megan's then. .
Stunning singing.

apologies if this has already been asked but is that orb and spectre fixed on. I dont see how it would have survived the trip up those stairs other wise

No need to apologise, it’s a special thread so everyone has dispensation to ask questions which have been asked forty times already without posters coming down on them like a ton of bricks.

I am lol-ing a bit at the thought of the orb and spectre though 👻

Who is that chap and what was he doing?

Was thinking that ? Was he unscrewing the crown holder so it can be removed at burial perhaps ?

TheMadGardener · 19/09/2022 16:22

Think the Crown Jeweller there was sneakily undoing the fixings of the regalia on the coffin, so they can just be lifted off later in the service for the official removal.

Hebditch · 19/09/2022 16:22

They will be removed from the top of the coffin which is symbolic of the end of the Queen’s reign

CaveMum · 19/09/2022 16:22

Perher · 19/09/2022 16:21

Who is that chap and what was he doing?

Unscrewing the brackets on the Crown Jewels. They have to be removed at the end of the service before the coffin is lowered.

Loveholidaystoomuch · 19/09/2022 16:22

In awe of those boys carrying the coffin.

If they don’t need to carry her again then who will?

Bouledeneige · 19/09/2022 16:22

I've stayed in St Georges Lodge a couple of times which is close to the chapel in the castle. We attended evensong and it's a very magical place.

AlwaysLatte · 19/09/2022 16:22

The Bearer Party were incredible, I'll never forget it. I hope they are rewarded for their dedication and hard work.

Perher · 19/09/2022 16:21

Who is that chap and what was he doing?

Not sure if his official title but he's taking off/ unscrewing the crown, orb and sceptre.

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 16:23

I hope those bearers get something....food etc , something special.

It must be very difficult for William thinking that the next time he does this, it will be because his father has died.

Hopefully not for a good while though. KC3 is not a smoker and very clean living, so unlikely to die soon

I was thinking of Kate, and whether she’s thought about the fact that William and George will get a state funeral like this one day. What a thought.

I think disaster was narrowly averted at Churchill's funeral going up the steps.

I was watching and I can tell you, millions were holding their breath and willing them on. You can see the tension in the grip one of them has on his oppo's greatcoat as they go us.

spanieleyes · 19/09/2022 16:23

Are there girls in this choir? Looked like one!

YogaLite · 19/09/2022 16:23

@JudgeJ, @ sunbird24, the coffin is lined with lead, that's where most of the weight is.

ThisIsNotAFlyingToy · 19/09/2022 16:23

This feels much more funereal than Westminster. Gorgeous chapel.

AnImaginaryCat · 19/09/2022 16:23

Been trying to see if there's information about ths pall bearers.

So far all I've found is one of them is only 19!

(I've not done a lot of searching yet!)

AlwaysLatte · 19/09/2022 16:23

Howling at this. I needed a light moment 😂

Cameleongirl · 19/09/2022 16:24

Camilla looked really nervy walking up the aisle, eyes darting from side to side. I wonder whether she was worried that Charles was going to collapse or something?

rocketfromthecrypt · 19/09/2022 16:24

This is beautiful. There's another, completely private and not televised, family service this evening but this feels so intimate compared with this morning.

Picoloangel · 19/09/2022 16:24

I’ve been thinking a lot today about Prince Philip’s funeral and the Queen sitting alone which was heartbreaking to witness. What on earth must she have felt when she discovered the Downing Street parties? As someone who took duty and responsibility so seriously I cannot imagine how she felt on discovering what her government ministers had been doing.

Those very young soldiers carrying the coffin so perfectly under such immense pressure and scrutiny. I second medals for all of them.

CaveMum · 19/09/2022 16:24

What to expect from this service, from BBC:

The Imperial State Crown and the Sovereign's orb and sceptre will be removed from the top of the coffin by the Crown Jeweller, separating the Queen from her crown for the final time.

At the end of the last hymn, the King will then place the Queen's company camp colour, or flag, of the Grenadier Guards on the coffin. The Grenadier Guards are the most senior of the Foot Guards carrying out ceremonial duties for the monarch.
At the same time, the Lord Chamberlain, former MI5 chief Baron Parker, will "break" his wand of office and place it on the coffin. The snapping of the white staff will signal the end of his service to the sovereign as her most senior official in the Royal Household.

The Queen will then be lowered into the royal vault and the Sovereign's piper will play before a blessing and the singing of God Save the King. The performance by the piper at Windsor was something the Queen had personally requested, Buckingham Palace said.”

Ratbagcatbag · 19/09/2022 16:24

One of the pallbearers is local. FB has lit up with amazing comments for him. His names Luke. I think his mum has spotted the comments.

He's the crown jeweller I think
