i live in the sticks so used to hearing nothing apart from the birds, sheep, sound of a tractor and cars in the distance.

but this morning there is total silence. No wind, very flat. No sound. Eerie silence.

DH went round the animals with the can and he said the same.

its a peculiar feeling

Super quiet! I walked the dog in peace.

whatsup00 · 19/09/2022 11:48

Very quiet.

Oh I never though of that, I have been watching but will nip the dog out for a quiet run around before the end while it’s all quiet.

TravellingSpoon · 19/09/2022 12:01

I live on a main road in a largish city.

Its so quiet, hardly anything going passed.

hewouldwouldnthe · 19/09/2022 12:26

Not seen a car all morning. Nice young man called (something random) and apologised for disturbing me on this occasion! I am watching the funeral though. Not watched much stuff so far for any long period.

IHateWasps · 19/09/2022 12:30

It's perfectly normal here. I've just returned from taking the dogs out. I saw a few others walking their dogs too and someone out jogging. Cars are passing by. The birds are singing quite enthusiastically, children are playing in their gardens and someone in the distance is mowing their lawn. Also just heard 3 planes overhead.

PerfectlyPreservedQuagaarWarrior · 19/09/2022 13:55

Not many cars. Heard a fight in the distance.

Dotorri · 19/09/2022 13:57

Glorious silence. SW London. Only birds really. It reminds me of the first lockdown.

SapphireSeptember · 19/09/2022 15:05

It's really quiet here. I'm staying in (and avoiding the news) and I can't here much at all, just the odd plane going overhead.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 19/09/2022 17:53

Utter silence in the neighbourhood but my dog walk was heaving with entire families out and about. The local park/lake was also heaving.

Reminded me of lockdown.

PollyCreo · 19/09/2022 18:37

I'm overseas but big British expat community here, my shop was very quiet today. Eerie silence until there was a three-car pile-up outside and the police and paramedics turned up 🙄

rrtu · 19/09/2022 19:03

We haven’t been out today so I don’t know but last night we had loads of fireworks around 8 and I wonder why

Imissmoominmama · 19/09/2022 19:10

It was nice on my walk earlier. I saw a few people and chatted (it’s that kind of place). The pubs are all open and were showing the funeral, so the high street had some chatter afterwards, but nothing major. Hardly any cars though.

Monkeybutt1 · 19/09/2022 19:16

We went on a bike ride earlier and remarked that it was like lockdown
