What happens if you need the loo (Westminster Abbey)?!

Makes me cross my legs just thinking about it. Some of those people have been sitting there for ages already and the service doesn’t start for two hours. No-one seems to be getting up and popping off for to the loo…maybe they’re told they can’t once seated?

I think I would actually turn an invite down on that basis!!!

Friend attended at the Abbey yesterday. He reported that he was desperate for a pee afterwards but it took ages to file out. No access to amenities in the Abbey itself.

Service men and women surely don't piss themselves on parade ffs??

Eugenie left the service slightly before the end and before the coffin etc, and nobody quite knows why - didn't seem to be for the procession, and no real need to get out early to be waiting for the cars, though possibly that was the reason. But maybe she was desperate for the loo or felt sick.

....meanwhile on another thread, AIBU to go up to school because dd isn't allowed to go to the loo in lesson time (whilst still having 4 chances to wee between 8.30 and 3pm). World leaders obviously never had a toilet pass...

As pp said for me it's the fear of being trapped in that situation and no options that don't involved massive embarrassment. I spent the entire morning worrying for them in a massive projection of my own anxieties.

Yes me too. My DH told me to stop going on about it and actually watch the funeral…🤦🏼‍♀️

If anyone is interested I have a definitive answer (a family member is part of the staff at Westminster Abbey and was part of the ceremonial procession).
Yes, there are toilets there that the congregation could use. Once they were through security they were free to move around until the TV broadcast began and the VIPs were arriving.
However, the toilets are designed for a few tourists sightseeing and not 2000 people for 4 hours so there were long queues
