I've been finding this mesmerising so thought I'd create a dedicated thread.
Saw Justin Trudeau and his wife pass through earlier.

I imagine the Daily Mail will catch wind of it and want to know who it is. They're streaming the live stream live iyswim.

Rude fecker.

A thread about a livestream without a link to the livestream. Can someone post a link to this livestream because I didn't know it existed and would really love to see it.

Sorry! As well as the iPlayer link posted above it's also on

Well I've booked train tickets and we're on the way to THE QUEUE..

If everyone can please cross their fingers and toes that the queue is still Accepting new queuers by the time I reach it that would be great. Wink

Confusedandanxiety · 18/09/2022 09:49

I saw a lady wearing a glittery tiara just before the guard change. And just before that a lady with a Lidl bag for life.
I also noticed if the cameras spot military people on the steps, when they get to the catafalque, they will them zoom in on them to see them salute.

13.5 hours at the moment. How long will it take you to get to Southwark?

CTPT · 18/09/2022 09:56

I haven't looked that far ahead , if anyone can help with directions of quickest way to head from kings cross that would be great!

I haven't been to London for years and a complete underground novice.. this may turn out to be a terrible idea! The trains already delayed so think we may miss our connection Shock

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/09/2022 09:58

what ai think as long as you are there by 2 pm you might have a good chance - but dont take my word for it

Antarcticant · 18/09/2022 10:04

I haven't been to London for years! TFL website says this but hopefully you might get proper advice from a Londoner.

Northern line from kings cross to London bridge then jubilee line to bermondsey which is close to Southwark park where the queue begins

I’ve watched a few tik toks about the queue. Someone said the queue got held for an hour one night so they could do cleaning. I’m guessing they sort the candles at this time if they need changing.

PPPPlease · 18/09/2022 10:20

@CTPT they have just announced on the news for people not to set off and join the queue. Sorry.

PizzaFunghi · 18/09/2022 10:23

But they've also said that they haven't made a decision on when to close the queue. They just say don't set off now, to avoid disappointment (presumably the worse disappointment of travelling that distance and not getting in, as opposed to the disappointment of just not going at all!). But I don't think that means that if people live close or are already on their way, that they won't get it. Last time they said that, they weren't immediately closing the queue - I think it was more a warning to dissuade people. So you might be OK. Good luck

DysonSphere · 18/09/2022 10:24

If I had listened to their advice on queue closing I'd not have managed to go. I say still go @CTPT

Antarcticant · 18/09/2022 10:28

There's nothing on the official tracker to say don't go. Wait time is 14.5 hours. The lying in state doesn't end until 6:30am tomorrow, so that's 20 hours from now.

lollipoprainbow · 18/09/2022 10:35

Me and dd off too london soon not to see the coffin but just to have a mill about and lay some flowers.

CTPT · 18/09/2022 10:42

We're on the train now anyway so still willing to go with the knowledge it may have closed by the time we reach the end.

Suggestions of where to go if it is closed please though!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/09/2022 10:53

ysterday i think they said dont go, but people went!

there are 3 lines in the left viewing the coffin now

notsosoftanymore · 18/09/2022 10:54

Thanks for flagging this up people, the livestream is fascinating. I studied anthropology so I suppose I kind of see this whole funeral scenario as ritual, a way of observing a big change and the death of a long lived ruler is something quite special even if politically, you disagree.
Someone posted the other day about how many people seem to walk through without even looking at the coffin and I put that down to people simply not knowing what to do. There is little ritual now in the UK, there are more weddings it seems to me but those are often highly individualised which is definitely a relief but also takes away from a cohesive sense of how to behave at an unusual moment.
As an aside and not meaning to drag in politics, if only there was a way people could be allowed to express their feelings about other important issues like climate change. A model of a burning, flooded world in the centre of London where people are encouraged to march in sorrow past it and the police being encouraging and supportive, not repressive.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/09/2022 10:55

@CTPT green park or hyde park for tribute flowers.

You could try to get an early place to watch the funeral procession tomorrow if you are prepared to wait about that long!

upinaballoon · 18/09/2022 11:02

The live stream has been on TV, channel 232, usually BBC Parliament, all the time.
As I have grown older I have put more store by ritual.
I have had a discussion this morning with someone, about the candles. I once saw two men go up to the candles and I think they were lifting off the trails of wax from down the sides. Has anyone else seen this?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/09/2022 11:02

anyone know who the asian dignatories are?

DysonSphere · 18/09/2022 11:30

I second watching the Parliament TV livesteam. Whoever is doing the camera especially the last couple days is a genius. They seem to focus on certain individuals as they come through the door and sure enough that person will pay their respects in an interesting or elaborate way once they reach the catafalque. I don't know how they know this, it's some uncanny predictive power.

Also the shots of the changing guards are very artfully done. It's an experience I tell you. Kudos needs to go to the film crew.

DysonSphere · 18/09/2022 11:33

And best of all, NO COMMENTARY OR NARRATIVE. I've seen some of the American footage of the procession as well as the Lying in State. Presenters giving commentary all the way through.
