Anyone else feel Kate was born to be a royal?

Watching the Queen's coverage all week & Kate looks like she was born for the role. (Also please don't turn this into a Meghan bashing thread, Meghan is equally beautiful & elegant but has chosen to be a non working royal which is why this thread is about Kate).
Even looking back at old school photos she looked so poised & elegant. She had an idyllic childhood, supportive parents & is doing a wonderful job in her new role.

Absolute bollocks and snobbery.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 15/09/2022 12:50

I also wonder what her parents think; she is basically completely hamstrung by the behaviour of many of the RF to be constantly perfect; she's the shining hope for the future of the monarchy.

I mean, her husband has had an affair, and she will have to rise above for the res of her life, such is the expectation.

I'd be devastated for my daughter if she were in that position; no amount of servants would make up for the cage she's in really (although she chose to put herself in it).

justasking111 · 15/09/2022 12:51

Those saying that her parents drilled her from birth. When you're boarding at somewhere like Marlborough parents fade into the background. She was sporty that was nurtured. I've had boarders staying many a weekend, they love a full fridge and freedom. But house masters and staff are the overriding influence. Her parents are good people William trusts and cares for them. That's rare in itself.

There's a real trend now to be dubbed "boring" if you're not loud, brash and extrovert.

Well, if you're loud, brash and extroverted (which aren't the same things), you probably aren't boring.

Gosh really? I find many loud brash people total bores.

babynoname22 · 15/09/2022 12:52

Born? Maybe not groomed from an early age? Absolutely.

Turefu · 15/09/2022 12:52

While Catherine may or may not chose St Andrew’s after she’ll found out William is going there, I’m sure rather good looking heir to the throne wasn’t short of offers. Saying she went there with certain plan , to catch William and marry him , is ridiculous. More likely, to be associated with certain people. She would be able to say to her potential employer: I went to St Andrew’s. People will know the rest. She has to be fairly clever too , to get a place there. She’ll manage well , no matter if she’d marry William or not.

RJnomore1 · 15/09/2022 12:52

Waity Katie? Terribly tedious, never had a proper job and all the dignity of Colleen Rooney, but she’s tall and middle class so we aren’t supposed to say that are we.

I personally wouldn't want that life for my own daughter. I wouldn't want her to wait for a prince to marry her or produce heirs. Being a clothes horse and facing pressure to be thin. I'd want my daughter doing her own thing I'd much prefer her view Zara as a rolemodel Vs Catherine..

Zara has said that the reason she's been able to develop and pursue her interests and enjoy her freedom is because she's not titled.

Yes she's a Rah. Private school girl who has been taught from an early age to do what is expected of her, smile a lot, be polite, defer to seniors but in a charming and supportive way, turn up and work hard & look amazing doing it. Oxbridge/Durham/Bristol and then employers like KPMG are full of them. She got the "being royal" graduate job and she's done it very well.

I know the type you mean & yes Oxbridge, Durham, Bristol & also Edinburgh uni are where they're mostly found. The ones I know all have a similar look, blonde swishy hair, understated jewellery & make up, throw a pashmina over everything & work in finance. Marry very wealthy men, give up work once the kids arrive then it's all pta & charity work...

Yes I think she's amazing, I can't imagine it's always easy.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/09/2022 12:55

I agree, waffless - she's actually very "ordinary" in person, and I mean ordinary in the nicest way and making allowances for her situation
Well clued up on nomal local stuff too (Norfolk in this case), and while she has people who'll find whatever she wants to know I was still surprised at just how much she's aware of

Oh, and she does carry money; going for an ice cream for my DS I bought her kids one too and she was most insistent about trying to pay me (of course I didn't let her!! Grin)

Mapletreelane · 15/09/2022 12:55

It amazes me how many people fall for the Daily Mail rhetoric ...how pushy her mum was, she was bred to meet Wills, she chose St Andrews to go and ensnare him, she forced him to marry her, her and Pippa were known as the Wisteria sisters. Really?! And we all know this how?

And she's slated for not sharing her. opinions, Charles gets slated for sharing his opinions, the Queen is praised for not sharing her opinions. She can't win.

ChsmpagneWannaBe · 15/09/2022 12:56

Yes yea yes yes

KentuckyDerbyandJoan · 15/09/2022 12:57

I think Kate is amazing, the Royal family are very fortunate to have her. Never, ever puts a foot wrong. Can’t imagine her ever involving herself in an appalling cringe fest on the ‘Ellen’ show….

There's a real trend now to be dubbed "boring" if you're not loud, brash and extrovert. There are plenty of indications that Catherine isn't a pushover. Being quiet and low-drama doesn't mean that she's a doormat.

I think she very quietly just gets on with things. And I don't think people realise half of what she does. She got in the water with the regatta team a few weeks ago, she's played cricket and raced William on the athletics track. She's happy to get her hands dirty and involved, and she's passionate about children and early years.

She seems to have oodles of patience and certainly appears to be kind and thoughtful - all qualities which make her perfect for William, and ideally suited to royal life. She's absolutely benefited from experience and coaching but she had the right temperament in the first place.

I think she's lovely - I think if it were all just an act, a chink in her armour would have appeared by now.

Being interesting doesn’t equal being loud, brash and extroverted. David Attenborough is a fascinating man and he is neither loud or brash (can’t comment on extroversion). It’s just that her public image is bland, dull and lifeless. She doesn’t seem to have any passions, interests, opinions or anything at all about her. She could be replaced with a cardboard cutout and most people wouldn’t notice the difference. Some see that as a positive, but I just find it crashingly dull.

Diverseopinions · 15/09/2022 13:00

Yes. And her family had some relatively ordinary beginnings and worked very hard to be successful. The Middleton's story in business is an inspirational one.

I think her attitude would have probably equipped her for a whole range of roles. She is hardworking and determined.

That's just not true! She has an art history degree, can turn her hand to numerous sports, is incredibly well travelled (& was before William!) & is incredibly close to her family.

They’ve been together eight years before they married. Long time, but both were very young , when they met, anything less would be seen as rushing into the marriage. Media attention made very hard for Catherine to get full time job. Also, why employer would want to invest in person, about who they know, she likely leave in some not so far future? If her parents were happy to pay for her living expenses , it’s nobody’s business she had no job.

I know two who have represented us in the Olympics they're independent women not looking to marry money their families have more than enough

Interesting to whom. The Queen rarely uttered an opinion in 96 years. Didn't stop the world being interested in her

ThrowingSomeCrumbs · 15/09/2022 13:06

Born to be royal or raised to try and snag him?! To put up and shut up when her husband shags around? Hmmm.

Someone needs to have a chat with her about her blusher though. It was looking terrible yesterday.

PinkStarAtNight · 15/09/2022 13:06

Pinkpeony2 · 15/09/2022 11:44

She wasn’t born to be a royal no. Of course not.
She was born into a very wealthy family who’s wealth is old money and stretches back.
Her family are upper middle class and that also stretches back through previous generations.
Her family were wealthy enough to have the right family connections before she was even born, and then gave her the right opportunities.
She must have the right temperament too and how she conducts herself attracted William who will have been extremely well trained in who to involve in a serious relationship.
Once in the serious relationship she has been heavily trained and prepared and alongside that she has the temperament and personality which slots right in to the royal machine.
I love the phrase she is more royal than the royals 🤣
She seems like William to me in the female form! Can’t imagine a better match and I just love the fact she wasn’t born into royalty. It’s all learned and performed.

I thought her mother worked as cabin crew and her father in a factory or something? And they became rich when they started the company Party Pieces from their garden shed?

Not that this makes them any less middle class, and yes Kate is definitely a natural royal and does such an amazing job in the role she's in, I just didn't think their family came from 'old money'.

Greengianttrees · 15/09/2022 13:07

I see Kate as someone over-thin (and I am slim myself), anxious and deeply unhappy
