Anyone else feel Kate was born to be a royal?

Watching the Queen's coverage all week & Kate looks like she was born for the role. (Also please don't turn this into a Meghan bashing thread, Meghan is equally beautiful & elegant but has chosen to be a non working royal which is why this thread is about Kate).
Even looking back at old school photos she looked so poised & elegant. She had an idyllic childhood, supportive parents & is doing a wonderful job in her new role.

I could not be silent and never utter any opinions Luckily no one particularly wants to hear your opinions.

I do.

Wow! That is very nasty.

I apologise antelope

Her parents socially engineered her into William’s circle, which is kind of weird. As a result her sister hasn't done too badly. Money attracts money. Her accent is very unnatural too and I do wonder if she is actually happy with her life.

*How did her parents 'make her' do all this?

Did they also 'make' the future king of the United Kingdom marry their daughter?*

Making her change her course and university, making her wait around, they engineered the entire situation and made her the one that the RF wanted for him. Do you honestly think if they hadn't done any of this, they would have met? Yes the Middletons have money, but not that much

The two things I would say is that each short visit probably means a fair amount of briefing etc behind the scenes and also she can't retire. This is it now. She may be the least hard working Royal , but isn't going to be able to bow out at at 60 odd. Whereas her sister doesn't get the jewellery & the frocks and the profile but being married to a rich man she does not need to do. hand's turn. I do get the point though that people work as hard for less.

Catherine's engagements are generally sporting or event engagements or early years engagements. She should not require much briefing for a film premiere or a tennis tournament. It will take more time to dress and have her hair and make up done.
She will I assume prepare for early years meetings. This is something many of us do without any staff support.
What she will spend her time doing that is required for the role is exercise, being fitted for new clothes, and beauty and hair treatments. Her main role is to look good and that takes time.

Again, how did they 'make her'?

Did they threaten to cut her off if she didn't change uni?

Wow! That is very nasty.

Not that anybody has any choice, mind. Grin antelope is nothing if not predictable the minute any royal is mentioned. They must have had a week off work this week to keep up with it all.

I suppose Kate’s parents ‘made’ William fall in love with her as well?

They seem to have truly Machiavellian abilities

I'm speechless! There hasn't been an influx of palace staff has there, now Meghan Markle is getting a bit more popular than they'd like, has there? So she's emerged and done a little walkabout, is that it?

Indoctro · 15/09/2022 17:14

Wasn't Kate always destined by her parents to marry a rich man..?

Her parents literally prepared her for this her entire life. Made her change her uni course when they found out where Wills was going (she had accommodation sorted at Edinburgh I believe), made her defer and wait a year to go to the same place as Will. When they broke up, she waited around for him (that's how she got the nickname Waity Katie) and did everything to win him back. It's all her family ever wanted for her, and now with the rumours about him, you have to wonder if it's what she wanted.

Even if that's true, as long as she's happy, what's the problem? Back in the day, this is how families came to be. Mothers would pick out potential suitors for their daughters to marry. There was never any force or coercion, no arranged marriages, just gentle encouragement. Kate seems to be a genuinely very happy lady who is proud of the decisions she's made over the years and unless something tragic happens to her or William, she has a good chance of becoming Queen. Which I personally hope to see one day.

AbsentinSpring · 15/09/2022 17:18

That's the basis on which I criticize her total lack of substance and lack of interaction with any form of meaningful work

But how do you know she lacks substance? She's got a degree, and therefore presumably an interest, in the history of art. Maybe that's her passion - or photgraphy - and she indulges that in private. Would she have more substance if she had an Instagram account - Katz Fotos - where she posted her photographs for you to peruse.

She's the mother of 3 young children, isn't that enough or would you prefer her to put them in wraparound care whilst she powers around the boardroom? Would that prove her work ethic to you?

I'm not sure she is the love of his life though, didn't he split up with her but then his elders had a quiet word about her suitability as a future wife for a king and the he got back with her.

CaramelTwirl · 15/09/2022 17:22

Stepford princess. I'm not sure how marrying a Prince and doing as she is told makes her a role model.

SarahShorty · 15/09/2022 17:28

I don't think Stepford princess is accurate in this case. It's American and has something of a Mean Girls vibe about it.

@Brightstar12 it's all out there online to read. There was even a documentary years ago when William and Kate got engaged or married. Carole's mother was apparently a very common aspirational sort. Like Hyacinth Bucket but poor. Like Dot Cotton off Corrie. They were very much working class. But Carole was hardworking and ambitious. They are self made which is great. Sorry if this bursts your bubble. It shouldn't as there is nothing wrong with being working class or self made. Michaels family was middle class. Distant upper class relatives but he was from a middle class background. Independent school but he and Carole really started out with very little other than each other and Carole's ambition and grandparents money to educate their kids

Iamacatslave · 15/09/2022 17:29

You need to read the article written by Hilary Mantel about Kate Middleton.

This is just so mean. It's not some silly superficial criticism that she is boring, lacks opinions, too skinny etc, it strikes right at the roots her life is built on - husband, family, children. Horrible.

Good for William ignoring bile like this. And Harry too. They both married for love not status.

I’ve read some vile tripe on MN over the years, but this takes the 🍪

antelopevalley · 15/09/2022 17:37

Nobody intelligent would marry William unless they wanted to be Queen. You are not simply marrying a man you love, you are marrying into a public role.
I assume Kate was intelligent enough to know that. So of course she wanted to be Queen.

You have to ask if there is any love (left) if he us cheating on her….
