You'd be shitting yourself wouldn't you? I'm no royalist but know that our forces can turn out at things like this (and glad to see so many women, particularly the one pulling the gun truck) but on whose head does it fall if it goes tits up?

That horse on the left drawing the carriage has been nibbling at its partner the whole way!

I noticed that! 😬😁

I find the tune they're marching to a bit too jaunty. I guess it has to have a bit of pace to it so it doesn't take too long but I'd have liked to hear something a little more dirgey.

All of the marches being played are funeral marches and as with everything else probably chosen by the Queen herself.

QuebecBagnet · 14/09/2022 15:04

I can barely watch

Endeavormorse · 14/09/2022 15:05

Imagine carrying the coffin in full view of the world. Terrifying

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/09/2022 15:05

How proud the families must be of those chaps carrying the coffin.

Jellykat · 14/09/2022 15:06

Theyre very young, what a responsibilty!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/09/2022 15:06

It looks so heavy.

Goldenbrowns · 14/09/2022 15:06

I was only watching out of a vague interest but this is truly moving. Trying not to cry before I go to pick kids up!

It is, it's lead lined

FetlocksBlowingInTheWind · 14/09/2022 15:07

Jellykat · 14/09/2022 15:07

Jellykat · 14/09/2022 15:08

Phew, didnt see the ramp!!

ScoobyDoNot · 14/09/2022 15:09

What an absolute honour for the 8 young men bearing the coffin. How do they get chosen for such an important job?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/09/2022 15:09

they look very hot.

BlueThingie · 14/09/2022 15:10

Well done, chaps. Do you think they practised with a coffin full of bricks?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/09/2022 15:11

It’s a warm day, marching all the way and then carrying the coffin. Wow. Hope they have a cold drink on standby.

Just what I was thinking.
The pall bearers were so impressive.

Chosen by the Regiment.

They'll decide how many of each rank, call for volunteers (get everyone!) then measure height to the shoulder, so that it's nice and even, on a very slight incline so that head is just higher than feet.

No idea how they decide between the suitable candidates

bestbefore · 14/09/2022 15:12

I'd be so proud if my ds was one of those lads.

They supposedly have a coffin of similar weight to what they will carry

Abra1d1 · 14/09/2022 15:17

The music is funeral marches. Anything without a reasonable beat would be hard to keep in step with.

Givenitarest · 14/09/2022 15:17

Ah the Choristers. I bet there's some MN-ers children up there. I've always been impressed by the amount of talented choristers there are on the extra curricular board. They must have rehearsed so hard for this important occasion. What an honour.

Bettyboo12 · 14/09/2022 15:19

So amazing and emotional to watch. The horses always make me nervous though 😬

MarisPiper92 · 14/09/2022 15:19

@RoseAndRose I think we will get another parade on Monday, from the Abbey to Wellington Arch (Hyde Park Corner). Motorcade starts there, I think.
