John Lewis Xmas Advert

In all the upheaval surrounding the Queen's death I'm sparing a thought for the JL advertising execs who were probably just putting the finishing touches on this year's Christmas advert, and now have to go back to the drawing board and put together something paying homage to the Queen.

So - what do you think? A montage showing families through the decades sitting down to watch the Queen's speech, with a wholesome message about change being inevitable but JL being by our side throughout? Cut to pic of King Charles at the end, and the whole thing set to a wistful acoustic version of Who Wants to Live Forever, and discreet product placement of Paddington bear toys? Place your predictions here!

I'm confused. There is another thread where people are describing a completely different one to the one shared upthread.

Why don't these big companies just advertise their offers / money savers instead of these big productions .

Ok....on the other thread people are saying it's something to do with a skateboard. Not the one shared upthread.

Having now seen the correct one it's a bit more Christmasy but still "meh".
However I agree with you - cheese and onion is the best flavour. Ha ha ha ha.

I really like this advert. Doesn't look ridiculously expensive and has a nice message about the meaning of Christmas.

Interesting article in the Times today regarding legal proceedings. In it, John Lewis state that "the concept for our 2019 Christmas campaign was first presented to us in early 2016." Therefore I doubt very much that they are only signing off on campaigns over three years after they are first storyboarded!
