Good because l work in a supermarket and cannot stand the fake pity off the customers that I' m working and they' re not.

Sally99 · 12/09/2022 20:31

Glad to hear it.

lilaccottagegarden · 12/09/2022 20:34

Glad to hear it.

Good old John Lewis.

AdoraBell · 12/09/2022 20:35

I thought they might, checked the date of my delivery and yes it was the 19th. Glad it occurred to me so I managed to change it.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 12/09/2022 20:35

It's good that retail are starting to put their staff above profits for certain days. I like that lots of them now close Boxing Day too.

PeekAtYou · 12/09/2022 20:38

I'm happy for the supermarket workers.

MorganSeventh · 12/09/2022 20:40

Fair enough. Schools are off and expecting people to find childcare with just over a week's notice isn't really reasonable. Especially if everyone else is looking for childcare too.

Dodie66 · 12/09/2022 20:57

I changed my delivery slot yesterday because I thought they might close

I think that's only right. But the food shops will be really busy on Saturday and Sunday.

What about the ones who want to work to avoid this enforced mourning then

lljkk · 12/09/2022 21:14

oh ffs. and yes I usually work BHs even though my office is officially closed.

Arenanewbie · 12/09/2022 21:16

I think it’s fair towards the workers.

The ones who want to work could do some voluntary work instead.

KangarooKenny · 12/09/2022 21:19

Good.
I wonder if there will be another BH for the coronation 🤔

I doubt they would get all the checks done in time .
It's all becoming like North Korea this .
Not everyone gives a toss about it at all

Do something else? Surely work isn't the only thing that can keep you busy?

lljkk · 12/09/2022 21:31

Will the supermarket staff all get holiday pay for missed shifts on 19th?
Another 1-2% off GDP, I guess.

Dodie66 · 12/09/2022 21:41

It's what she would have wanted after all.

Supermarkets closing on the 19th
lljkk · 13/09/2022 06:10

yay, that's commemorate the life of the woman who refused to stop working by people having a day off work. That makes sense. Sure. <shrug>

MrsSkylerWhite · 13/09/2022 06:11

not an issue (if staff are being paid).
