Just that really, does anyone have any they'd like to ban? 😂

"Living their best life"
"Burgeoning baby bump"
Selfie - mainly when it's not a self photograph!
Quaint
"We're pregnant"
Any form of estate agent speak that makes a property sound nicer than it is
Furbaby
Baby mama/daddy

And While I’m on one - and I know km gonna get shot down for this…I HATE the word vulva. I know…I know….
Me too!

RicherThanYew · 06/09/2022 01:31

Don't mind me, I'm just here to see how often holibobs, moist and 'can I get' are mentioned.

I volunteer to throw the word pick onto this verbal bonfire, I have no issue with what it means, just the sound of the word 🤢 My nan at a buffet will pick up single tiny morsels of food and mid chew announces that she loves picking. I love you Nan but eurgh stoppit.

Athenajm80 · 06/09/2022 01:40

Utilise instead of use. If it's for the purpose it was designed for, then you USE it (looking at you wanky managers who also misuse myself/yourself etc)

Also any corporate business jargon like blue sky thinking, a deep dive, or (sorry I know it's a Mumsnet favourite) getting your ducks in a row. A woman I work with is a walking business jargon cliché and it makes me want to stab myself to death.

‘Stunning’ when describing a house unless it has dodgy electrics.

The only time my flat will be described as stunning.

Epicstorm · 06/09/2022 01:41

24/7
Can I get a coffee? (or whatever)
150% ( or any % over 100).
Can I lend a ……?
He borrowed me a…….
We won them. No you didn’t you beat them.

This is one of my pet hates, though I don't mind it when Americans say it, as it is the American term for full stop. It annoys me when British people say it because they've heard it on an American television programme and think they are being cool, often without even knowing what it means.
I'd say that it really grinds my gears or boils my piss, but those are phrases that should be banned too!

wellobviouslyyoucan · 06/09/2022 02:05

"Date night".

No, I'm just going out for dinner with my husband like I have for very many years!

ilovesooty · 06/09/2022 02:08

Grim
Cosy
Snuggle

sashh · 06/09/2022 03:19

Very unique, it is unique, that means it is the only one.

I did manage to get an entire class of year 8's to stop saying, "is it like..." by saying, "is it like that or is it that?"

Myself - I don't want to ban it, I just want people to use it correctly, it is NOT a posh way to say 'me'.

meateatingveggie · 06/09/2022 04:26

Gifted, gifting, gift... all of them.

Brekkie
Cuppa
Sarnie

Plus many other.

PrincessGraceless · 06/09/2022 04:27

Banger - when referring to a good song on the radio. ‘That one’s a right banger!’ 😖

Also ‘making memories’ as others have said.

KnickerlessParsons · 06/09/2022 05:02

Making memories

zukiecat · 06/09/2022 05:15

Window, as in "I have a small window of opportunity", etc.

BeanieTeen · 06/09/2022 06:47

Finishing a point with saying ‘end ov’ in an emphatic way. Just sounds so thick.

Gooseysgirl · 06/09/2022 06:49

Was/were sat. Was/were stood.

'Noone'.

What's wrong with the space bar all of a sudden?? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I loathe this error with the heat of the fire of a thousands suns.

Its such a bad error. Or baderror for those that can’t use the space bar.

LadyCampanulaTottington · 06/09/2022 07:00

Adding:

Recommend me X
Borrowed me Y

When people say "pacific" instead of "specific"

Brahumbug · 06/09/2022 07:52

@Epicstorm
"or any % over 100"
There are some percentages that can legitimately be over 100%, but effort definitely isn't one of them😀.
My hates include, holibobs, hubster, hun and leave the bastard as a solution to every problem.🙄

TigerRag · 06/09/2022 07:55

Super. No one's excited anymore; they're all now "super excited"

Super annoying!

CassTheFox · 06/09/2022 07:58

“Hubby” or even worse “the hubster”.

Also “this one”. As in “had a lovely day with this one”.

This thread had made me laugh 😊

Butterbean9 · 06/09/2022 08:37

Jarring

A man once said he was 'down to clown' and I nearly threw up
