Anyone got a nipple pierced?

Duplocrocodile · 05/09/2022 22:00

Coming up to 40 and fancying doing something a bit rebellious. Have been thinking about it on and off, have read posts on here from years ago, seems some people take them out after a while?

Anyone love theirs?

Had mine done years ago but decided they weren't for me. Although I loved the look of them when naked I didn't like how they showed through tight clothing if I went braless. Plus my sexual partners weren't keen on sucking my nipples with them in (and I love having my nipples sucked so that was a major negative 🙁). I don't remember the pain being awful, it was a couple of seconds of intense sharp pain then a tolerable dull pain, and I had no problem with healing.

Had no replies for a bit, but just come back on to check…

wow guys you’ve really come thru with the advice, love it!!

great to read your stories. The pain side doesn’t bother me, (have a leg sleeve tattoo so not adverse to a bit of pain if you get me)
think it’s more the healing if/when it heals nicely. Have been Breastfeeding for nearly 2 years finished feb time. Nips have not a great deal of feeling now!

i think the ‘not in the winter’ tip was good. Also read you shouldn’t swim for a while after to avoid infection. May go for summer hols next year as I do weekly swimming lessons with the toddler.

Can I just ask if anyone was a swimmer and had to avoid the pool for a certain period??

also Bar or Hoop??

I am a swimmer. Was supposed to be 8 weeks but I went after 4 weeks. Used piercing spray afterwards. I have bars because I was afraid of Getting hoops snagged

I have one done, for me the worst part was the clamp they used when piercing. You do have to be careful until it has healed enough to take it out before you exercise, play sport etc.

littleburn · 11/09/2022 21:50

I had both done with a bar (I was worried just one would look a bit lopsided!). They looked fab but pretty much meant my nipples were a no go zone during sex for the 2 years I had them in. They'd healed well, but any tugging on them could get painful and I'd be on edge whenever my partner went near them. In the end I chose my sex life over how good they looked and took them out 😁.

Duplocrocodile · 11/09/2022 22:11

@littleburn do you think they didn’t heal properly?

can anyone else say if they’ve healed ok then they are fine to touch? I’ve had a navel piercing for decades (for example) and can’t feel it

Nipple piercing are horrible. Really common.

I guess I'm common then. I don't care, I love my nipple piercings.
I'd rather be common than snobby anyway.

Boxowine · 12/09/2022 03:53

I had both of mine done on my 39th birthday. No issues but I eventually took them out. I was just having a lot of respiratory issues and I got tired of taking them out for every chest exam/x ray. I felt pretty daring for a while but that was about it. It was painful so make sure you are able to mentally calm yourself and recover because it's hard to let them do the second one after the shock of the first one.

Duplocrocodile · 12/09/2022 06:54

@Boxowine both sides look great but initially only planning one side.. although don’t know which!
thanks for your honest views.

and the poster who said - Really Common?? What does that even mean these days. How many nipples do you see on a daily basis!!

I had 1 with a hoop and the other with a bar. Found rhe bar healed better although that may have been me going on fair ground rides 20 minutes after i had the 1 eith the hoop done.
Ive never had any problem with tugging them etc. Dp thinks theyre wonderful

OhWelllWhatever · 12/09/2022 16:10

I do like mine but they hurt like a bitch to get done and when they get knocked.

How about your tongue if you havent already got it done? Feels rebellious enough but way less pain and quick enough to heal.

SoldierBoy · 12/09/2022 17:07

I have one done, there’s no way I could have gone through with having the other one done but I don’t mind it not being symmetrical. It’s my most painful piercing by far, and I’ve had a lot. Had it just over 10 years now

Duplocrocodile · 12/09/2022 21:02

Tongue is definitely not for me.

thanks for all the stories

I used breast pads ( incase I caught or bumped in to anything) and sea salt mixed with cooled boiled water. I was so padded out I ended up looking like Katie Price 🤣
I had mine done in summer so perhaps the don’t in colder weather may be a point. I also still use a poof/scrunchie thing in the shower (I’m just very VERY careful!! - warning here, please take extra care!)
also be mindful of dangly jewellery. I recently caught mine on a bracelet. It was horribly painful.

However, still love them 3 years later and they healed really well within the guideline time.
I’ve also have a daith, tragus and scaffold done.. I’d still say the nipples were one of the most painful but worth it!!!

AquaTorfanaa · 26/09/2022 12:21

I had both of mine down around a year ago. They hurt and are a bitch to heal when you catch them on things but they're all good now a year on.

Duplocrocodile · 27/09/2022 21:41

Thanks!!
i don’t wear bracelets only a watch. And yes have been warned of those shower flower things!

Definitely will be doing this at some point :)

I got mine done nearly a year ago. Didn’t really hurt. They have healed nicely… bloody hurts if you snag them on anything though.

Cozzadelsol · 27/09/2022 22:00

I had mine done in my thirties and loved it at first, it was fine for many years.

However, after my piercing pulled whilst getting towel dried out of the shower, I ended up with a huge lump on my breast (cyst). I was referred to the breast cancer clinic to get biopsies, scans etc, despite the fact I knew the reason for the lump, it was still an awful experience, plus a huge waste of resources on the NHS.

I would not recommend having this done.

Teacoaster · 27/09/2022 22:11

I had one nipple pierced a few years ago. I had it in for just over a year but it never fully healed. Consequently when I took the bar out for a day (i lost the end to the bar and was waiting to buy a replacement one) it completely closed up within a day of having no jewellery in it.

I really liked having my nipple pierced though and I didn't feel any pain when getting it done. I had my done in Portugal. Since having a child, I rarely feel sexy getting my boobs out so unlikely to get it done again. But I look back to my twenties with a smile!

PeloFondo · 27/09/2022 22:27

Had mine done at 17 so 22 years ago god I feel old now!
They healed fine, easiest of my piercings TBH and never had issues with them
