So, I bought my 2 kids wieghted blankets (they are ASD).
They help a lot.
I didn't buy the most expensive ones & they don't have a removeable cover.

A mistake ... my teen Ds has been sleeping directly under his, with no PJ's.
So, a hot soapy wash pre winter, then into an old single duvet cover is wise.

However, I' m a bit worried the weight of it might break my washing machine?

Is there a laundrette local to you? They have large capacity washing machines.

There is not much local to me sadly (arse end of nowhere in Scotland...)

But yes this might be safer. Too expensive to break my machine, too expensive to replace blanket. Grr for teenage Ds...

DD expensive one is fine in the washing machine. We have a 7kg washing machine. I'd more worry about it damaging the distribution of the weights

I wouldn't machine wash unless you go to a laundrette they are stupidly heavy before you add water but once wet they are a nightmare. One option if there is no local laundrette could be a bathtub wash if you can carry them back down to dry?
