Party bag tat

Hiya,

I'm I'm the process of planning two birthday parties. Currently thinking about what to put in the party bags, but honestly I'm sick of party bag tat.

I would usually put in a couple of toys to match the theme, a book, a balloon, some playdoh, bubbles, maybe some stickers, then some sweets/oaty bars/raisins and crisps .

But the apart from the one year I got some really lovely superhero teddy bears, I think the toys are always rubbish/never last and at this point we probably have 20-30 bubble wands of varying shapes and sizes from different parties.

So I'm on the hunt for some new ideas.

Is there anything your kids have ever received that you (and ideally they) have been really pleased with and/or they've actually kept for a decent amount of time (more than 2/3 days at least. Lol)?

For context, the parties are for a 4 year old (Power Rangers) and a 6 year old (Pokemon).

Please, don't do seeds! We have been given so many and they never get used, we have our own seeds if we want to grow something.

I think what you've listed besides the toys sounds good tbh, I wouldn't be sick of receiving stickers, bubbles, balloons and sweets, they would make my DDs day and I don't have loads of them.

No need for the toys.

Loved receiving seeds and they were always enthusiastically planted and monitored 🤷‍♀️

Just put less crap in. It excessive and unnecessary. Bad for the environment. Bad for the parents who have got a house full of plastic crap they don't want. Bad for the kids who expect endless amounts of plastic tat whenever they go anywhere (you don't need a present to thank you for going to a party!). Bad for the other parents who think they also have to hand out a bag of unnecessary rubbish after their child's party. Just all bad.

Cake is fine. Add sweets/snacks if you want. If you really must, add a book. Nothing else.

I put a packet of seeds and some compostable seeds pots into the last set of party bags I did along with some sweets and they where a big hit.

We've just had so. Many. Seeds! Also think about the time of year you're giving them out, not so good in the winter.

I really really hate when kids get seeds.

My DD absolutely loved getting a pair of sunglasses in a party bag. They had Elsa on and I know they were £2 in b&m. She wore them all summer

I hate the seeds too.

I think my DCs' favourite was a football, but it wouldn't help with the personalised box.

Wildflower seeds

I've only done party bags once at an impromptu picnic type gathering for my daughters 5th birthday as things were opening up after covid. I got
Mini love hearts sweets and pack of raisins.
One of those multi-colour pens from smiggle where they click each colour in, (not sure if they have an actual name...)
Little notebook for them to write in with their pens
A pencil, Eraser and sharpener
So essentially contents for a mini pencil case.
Went down a treat

Got most of it in smiggle on those deals so for 10 kids I think I spent about 50e on it. Which was fine as the 'party' was in the park and I just brought some buns, crisps and juice. They all had a ball!

Love the sunglasses idea 👍

cress and salad leaves grow year round and give fast results for children 😃

But it's normally sunflower or wildflower seeds.

Haha Apols for the seeds suggestion!

Thinking some more, dd once decorated a bag at the party and then that was the bag, with some sweets and cake.

Or she made jewellery and that was the gift.

ds once got a football which was a great gift! Not a £20 one I hasten to add, one of those £1.50 ones from Asda. He liked it tho at age 5-6.
