Amsterdam travel help needed please (urgent)

Herecomesthestrawberries · 27/08/2022 12:02

Relative has just booked a flight to Amsterdam in December and didn't realise you need to be vaccinated (they're not)

Can anyone help with obtaining a certificate to prove recovery from COVID or any other way they could enter please?

They'll need to cancel asap if there are no alternatives. Thank you!

www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/netherlands/entry-requirements

Says either proof of vaccine or proof of covid in the last 180 days.

dementedpixie · 27/08/2022 12:16

What sort of test did they use when they had covid? If it was an NHS PCR then it would show on the covid pass

Or they could get vaccinated!

Peapop777 · 27/08/2022 12:20

I was in Amsterdam 2 weeks ago and although I am fully vaccinated I was never asked for proof of it.
Went through airport as normal, my friend also went about 3 months ago and also didn't have to show proof.

WhereAreMyAirpods · 27/08/2022 12:21

We went to Amsterdam back in May and nobody gave two hoots about vaccine status. Never asked.

It was the test you take at home and don't need to send off. Would this be okay?

Thanks. Don't think they should risk not being asked though. Would be too nervous!

No I don't think so as i dont think LFTs come up on the app. Did they register the test? Would maybe need to pay for a private proof of recovery

Not sure if of use, but the up to date info from the Dutch government is here

StamppotAndGravy · 27/08/2022 12:51

If they didn't do an official test, they have no certificate. They'd better book in to get vaccinated like everyone else! Good job it's free...

Herecomesthestrawberries · 27/08/2022 12:53

I think they'll have to cancel

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 27/08/2022 12:53

Are they not willing to have the vaccine?

WhereAreMyAirpods · 27/08/2022 12:54

If the flight isn't until December they have plenty of time to get vaxxed.

I think they'll have to cancel

Or get vaxed

Etinoxaurus · 27/08/2022 12:59

Not urgent
Not your problem

AlisonDonut · 27/08/2022 13:00

Are they planning on never going abroad again? They must have known it would be an issue when they decided not to get vaccinated?

wigywhoo · 27/08/2022 13:00

Problem solved if they get vaccinated!

Maireas · 27/08/2022 13:03

dementedpixie · 27/08/2022 12:16

Or they could get vaccinated!

That's the obvious solution!

Meltingsocks · 27/08/2022 13:04

Recovery certs only last 90 days anyway, So this idea is a non starter unless they helpfully catch covid in October

What's the drip feed on why they can't get a vaccine?

Herecomesthestrawberries · 27/08/2022 13:25

Jesus you lot are a laugh a minute.

DS had to show his on Thursday.

Myself & a couple of others have been to Amsterdam via ferry & plane recently. We had the NHS app proving our vaccine status. We were not checked once in, during or out of the country.

However, if you are checked & unvaccinated, the NL may not let you enter, I believe

DamnUserName21 · 27/08/2022 14:40

They either need to get COVID (confirmed by PCR) in the 180 days and get certificate before they fly, get vaccinated or cancel. Or chance going without the above but I wouldn't especially as COVID rates will be up again in December so countries will be stricter about checking (likely).
