What unexpected thing have you found in your handbag?

I was rummaging in my bag for my car keys this morning, and found a Cadbury's Creme Egg. It must have been in there for months, and I've no idea how it had remained hidden from my chocoholic self for so long. It was a bit battered and squashed, but I ate it anyway.

Please tell me I'm not alone in finding random surprises in handbags!

50+ live mealworms. Quite a few of them clustered in my wallet. I’m just very grateful that I did not discover this whilst paying for something in a shop. Blush Grin

A small jar of miso paste.

The house phone.

I always carry a salt sachet!! So must bags have one in!!
Always poo bags even though I never ever take a handbag on ddog walks!!

I always have either salt sachets or a tiny travel sized salt shaker. I’m on keto so I add extra salt to everything 😁

I found a dog whistle. I don’t own a dog, never have. No clue where it came from.

I’ve also found a live mouse. Very cute.

I had forgotten about the cat poo in my handbag incident until this thread. The door between the cat and his litter tray was accidentally left shut overnight so the poor thing thought the best place to ‘go’ was in my handbag. That was a nice surprise when I came downstairs in the morning!

I’ve had this too Envy both poop and wee. Didn’t notice the wee until I took my phone out to pay for some shopping and it was all wet. And smelled gross!

in happier news I found £35 in my bag this week from a few months ago, someone gave it to me at a party and I thought I must have thrown it away as I couldn’t find it anywhere - turned out I’d been using a different handbag that day!

One Sunday after ‘lively’ night out .
A denture.
The owner was never found.

Trumpetpants · 26/08/2022 18:34

Shrimp, mackeral etc, bait for crabbing that my grandson secreted in my bag! Can still smell it now, it was rank!

mac1974 · 26/08/2022 20:21

@RovenderKitt that made me really laugh.

Whataplanker · 26/08/2022 20:42

A dummy, very many years after my DD stopped using them! In my defence, I hadn't used the bag in a while but I hadn't realised quite how long.

Happylittlethoughts · 26/08/2022 21:12

A paraplegic mouse.

PestoPasghetti · 26/08/2022 21:18

A goldfish in a bag of water

(Oh no, hang on, that was Phoebe...)

I did find a scratch card in a secret pocket. My mum had bought me the handbag and hidden the scratch card as a nice surprise. I didn't really like the bag so never used it, and just happened to check it thoroughly before selling it years later. The scratch card wasn't a winner, but that's maybe as well because I probably couldn't have claimed the prize anymore.

pipwoes · 26/08/2022 21:30

Several salted peanuts that must've fallen out weeks before. Not as weird as some of these.

Ooh but actually - tonight a silver bracelet not mine!

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 26/08/2022 21:37

A ginger beard.

CatsMother66 · 26/08/2022 22:28

A mini cucumber....!

Surtsey · 27/08/2022 09:53

I once had my driving licence posted back to me after I'd left it in an inner pocket of a handbag I'd donated to a charity shop. Someone had bought the bag, found it, and very kindly returned it to me with a little note.

Various stones, twigs, etc., seen as interesting treasures to be kept forever by Gdcs (usually little Gds) and forgotten about 5 minutes later.
And so unearthed from my capacious bag days or weeks later, when I eventually get around to emptying it.

Babyroobs · 27/08/2022 10:24

I was at a funeral a couple of years back and went to pull out a tissue as got a bit tearful. As I did a piece of thick ham flew out. I had been out for a meal a few days earlier and my meal had way too much meat so I thought I'd bring a slice home for the dogs. Of course I had then forgotten about it ! Person sat next to me was in stitches.

thebabessavedme · 27/08/2022 11:29

this week I have found a hand grenade and some nerf darts - I have a grandson Grin

TheYearOfSmallThings · 27/08/2022 11:33

A well sucked digestive biscuit in the side pocket where my travel card lives Envy. I held up a line of horrified commuters when I yelped and whipped my hand back out, flicking moist biscuit goo everywhere. I think I have PTSD because I always look now before reaching in.

A chicken wing

I'd been in a night out and really needed to soak up the alcohol and the pub didn't serve food so I snuck in a box of chicken wings for a group of us. Clearly one escaped and I didn't find it until the next day when I was rooting around for my Oyster card. Grim.

HRTQueen · 27/08/2022 13:04

Lego Batman

it was a bag I hadn’t used for years I think we went shopping and took a selection of Lego people with us

made me miss those days

100problems · 27/08/2022 14:58

Spider

I'm arachnophobic. Screamed, threw bag in air and ran away from it.

Went on a work trip to the US. In a meeting with my client’s executive team on Day 1, I reached into my handbag for a pen, only to find that my DD had replaced all of my pens with teething rings.
