Oh well,

They can bloody get in queue for the sake of 580 quid.

Nice loud scary knock... BANG BANG BANG - how they think that will get a reasonable response I don't know 🙄

Luckily these things don't scare me, if I haven't got, they can't have it.

However I do really feel for those not wanting to have bad credit report, or have a mortgage, or a car for instance.

Just crackers.

Not sure why posting really all getting a bit much.

They are going to enter your property and fit a pre-payment meter. Meaning you'll essentially get cut off when the balance is zero.

They will also place a debt recovery amount on your meter, so say for every 10.00 you top up they will take £1 off the debt.

However.....if you ring them when you reach zero and can't top up, they will place credit on the meters and just add it to your debt, but they will only do this once or twice sadly.

It's basically the stealth way of cutting people off, and then when they are questioned they go "no it's up to the customer to top up" and absolve themselves of any responsibility 🙄

Yes I've been on one of those before.

Maybe my intense posting does mean that I'm stressed out.

I'm more panicked at the moment about going to shop for cat food!

But it's essential, like feeding the kids. Luckily one is only here for 2 weeks (24) and other is 13 and loves veg - so I'll get me slow cooker on, veg stew n dumplings with meat stock for flavour 🤣.

Logging off now xx

Exactly @Oldcottoneye . I really don't want to get into the long story of why it led to this, however along with life's ups and downs, when my smart meter was installed, I never received a bill or an account number to pay to - I do now!

Ah well. Worse things happen at sea.

Like Jaws.

You have my sense of humour! Lol
God, what the fuck are we all going to do?
These asshats can forcibly remove you.
Is your rent being paid?

Oldcottoneye · 26/08/2022 14:46

I'm genuinely so sorry. You're like me and I'm being investigated for ASD/ADHD (investigated is the wrong word perhaps - referred!).
Your wit and sense of humour is so brilliant.
I'm so sorry that you're experiencing this, but the bastards can remove you forcibly I think (I'm not from this country so not 100% sure).

I'm with you. x

You know like a Hungarian Bograscz (sp) step dad is Hungarian... Like dig a put, and a tripod over a wood fire... I'm thinking about that in the garden. It'll be winter, windows shut, washing not out...

Oh I don't know, over thinking now 🤣😭

Bogracs :-)

MN will soon tell you how unreasonable you are for lighting a fire in your garden.

Deathraystare · 26/08/2022 15:34

I know that having worked as a single parent and pulling myself off benefits that, it is the low incomes but no UC or Tax Credits that will suffer the most.

Yep. Every single time. Makes me sick. Then every time someone posts about getting into difficulties, you get the Daily Mail types that say you wouldn't be in this difficulty if you would have a magical two months money saved up in case of difficulties......

I cannot offer any advice and I know it will get a lot worse for a hell of a lot of people including those who never thought they would ever be in difficulties, perhaps even those Daily Mail types........

Ah see, I was even overthinking the spelling of Bogracs 🤣 well there's usually a random z somewhere 😉 Thank you.

It'll be winter - if people have their washing out n windows open, then they'll have to dry indoors and shut their windows 🤣

Ah bless you, you clearly have a super sense of humour 🤣 and investigated sounds about right!!

No we cannot be removed from our home, my rent is being paid so the most they can do is fit prepayment and/or cut us off.

I've always being the Bear Grylls type! What a shame you are in a different country, we could have hooked up and shared survival skills 🤣

Kerrrmieee's The Island... First thing light a fire, then find water! Then scrape together all the 1ps you can find and get some bread to make toast 🤣

Gotta love ADHD/ASD - fairy land!

Absolutely - there is such a fine line between being on benefits and working so that you do not qualify for benefits.

Can only wish everyone good luck because Martin Lewis is panicking and doesn't have the answers.

2 month's salary saved up would be eaten so soon on bills.

Come join my 'Island' with @Oldcottoneye small house, but we'll survive on jumpers and Bogracs cooking 😁

There is lots of support for you, you just need to be able to find it. It might be worth seeing if there is a Trussel Trust foodbank near you.

They will be able to signpost you to someone who can help with your debts. And also you can get food so that you can redirect some.of your money to the Shell bill.

Have a look on Turn2Us to check if you're getting all the money you are entitled to.

If you're in Wales, you can apply for a Discretionary Assistant Fund payment to help you.

There are also energy banks, and they may have funds to help pay off some of the debt and help set up a payment plan.

You may be able to apply for a benevolent fund grant.

If you want any info, PM me.

stopitstopitnow · 26/08/2022 16:47

Are you eligible for help from Shell's hardship fund?

Are you eligible for help from Shell's hardship fund?

If the OP isn't then Severn Trent have a really good trust fund if she's in their area or there may be a trust fund associated with her career or previous job?

This might not apply to you OP but thought it might be helpful for anyone else in this situation.

Kerrrmieee · 27/08/2022 22:46

Thank you all. I've bookmarked the posts so that when my social worker comes round, I can show him.

How ridiculous getting to my age with so many qualifications and I can't deal with daily life.

Demand avoidance they say.
