What are you having for dinner?

I HATE cooking. Always have. I'm not very good at it and I don't eat well.
I think part of the reason I hate it is that because I go to the effort of cooking and the result is never that delicious so not worth the effort. And I'm very lazy.
I tried a pasta bake last week I was super excited about but it turned out rubbish.
Thankfully I have a job where I can eat at work most days.

But tonight I am not working. DH is out so I am eating by myself. I don't know what to cook and I don't particularly want a takeaway.

What are you having for dinner? Maybe it'll give me some ideas🥲

Massaman curry with tofu. Refried bean enchiladas tomorrow 😋

PinkTonic · 18/08/2022 19:41

M&S Provençal vegetable tart with some anchovies chucked on top, served with potato salad and a mixed salad. Can not be arsed.

Fennel and sausage pasta. A recent recipe I learned and it's delicious!

@iklboo what are 'oven bottoms'?

I'm having cold salmon and prawns with rocket, edemame beans, beetroot, avocado and a pesto dressing.

lilroo87 · 18/08/2022 19:52

Easy one for us tonight. Jacket potato with cheese and beans

Was that from the last thread I posted on? We had it last night 😂

AppleBottomRats · 18/08/2022 19:53

@RitzyTitzy ooh can you share the recipe? I love fennel.

@TrueNorthernBird - a slightly flatter barmcake / muffin / bread roll / bread cake / insert local term here

Of course, though I'm doing this from memory as I stupidly didn't take a photo of it when I found the recipe originally! This feeds 2/3 in my house.

3 fennel bulbs sliced, with a couple of sliced onions and sliced garlic (I use lots of garlic). Get the sausage meat out of your favourite sausages (I've done it with Italian mainly) break it up into bite sized pieces and add it all to a roasting tin. Then mix it all up with oil and salt and roast on around 200 degrees until it's all nice and verging on crispy. Serve with pasta and parmesan. I think I'll add pine nuts to it tonight. Enjoy!

Right now I fancy bangers and mash!

Will probably change later! 🤣

Had cereal in the end! 🙈

Floralnomad · 18/08/2022 21:06

we had chicken kievs , chips and cherry tomatoes 🍅. Every meal at the moment comes with tomatoes as our harvest has been better than expected .

pictish · 18/08/2022 21:09

Seriously, after I fed the kids some reheated pasta I had a fish finger sandwich and it was sublime.
I cook. I even enjoy it. Cba tonight, not with shopping, not with making a meal. Busy day, challenging job. Leftover/freezer lottery it was.
That sandwich was the kiss of life.

Thanks! Never heard of them in all my decades on this planet!

Lasagne and salad followed by apricot, raspberry and blackberry crumble and ice cream. We don’t usually have a dessert but Thursday nights are a bit special as we have our granddaughter for the day and son comes to tea. The blackberries were picked last week over the park but I find sometimes they can be a bit tasteless so I added the apricots for more flavour.

Homemade grilled chicken burgers with homecooked chips. I can't wait 😄

I never get excited about home cooked food. I just can't be arsed with it.

Mustard and mozzarella stuffed chicken breast with tomato rice

That sounds yum. What kind of mustard so you use?

JustTwoNights · 19/08/2022 19:24

Aldi rump steaks 2 minutes a side plus mashed potato. Bisto gravy plus mayo and tomato ketchup for my heathen children.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 19/08/2022 19:34

Kedgeree and salad. 👍

It was great!

AmongstTheCosmos · 19/08/2022 19:49

Lemon sole baked in the oven with butter, lemon and parsley. Tomatoes roasted in olive oil, salt and garlic, new potatoes, broccoli.

StarCourt · 19/08/2022 20:01

We've had a good delivery tonight as I'm too knackered to cook.
Kofta, salad and vine leaves

FreezyFreezy · 19/08/2022 20:08

dc and dh had pizza. I fancied a burger and we had some in the freezer so I madea double cheeseburger with salad, tomatoes and fried red onion topped with mayo, nandos garlic sauce and some sweet chilli sauce.

FizzyStream · 19/08/2022 20:08

KFC. Kids did an end of week show after their stage school summer camp this week so it was their treat (and also mine as I've finished work for a week and a half!)

GrandSlamFinalee · 19/08/2022 20:17

Had cucumber and avocado rolls, and lentil crisps. Still a few crisps and lots of ginger to finish!
