Where should the sieve live?

Can you settle a disagreement in the Weeds household please? We have a deep cupboard in the kitchen where we store most of our kitchenware crap paraphernalia.

Person 1 - the (metal) sieve lives with the metal mixing bowls on the bottom shelf.

Person 2 - the sieve lives on the shelf above the mixing bowls, with the frying pans, adjacent to the saucepans.

For context, the colander lives on the next shelf up, with the second sieve. I fully accept this is the most logical place to keep the first choice sieve, but it’s really high up and harder to access.

We know how to make the most of a day off in this house! It’s wild!

I have so many cupboards in my kitchen. It'll be put in one that's down the sink end. It could be with the saucepans, it could be with the baking trays and kettles that aren't used. It could even be hanging out with the washing up after being used to drain peas. Generally it's whatever door is opened 1st.
I dont see the point of a colander when a sieve does the job.

@Caramelsmadfuzzytail how many unused kettles do you have?!

Mine is in my saucepan drawer with my colander.

RoseMartha · 18/08/2022 21:18

My sieve lives with the saucepans.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 18/08/2022 22:11

Ours lives with the saucepans and frying pan in a low cupboard near the cooker.

RedSoloCup · 18/08/2022 23:25

The sieve goes in the colander obviously😬

WigglesWaggles · 18/08/2022 23:46

Mine is in the mixing bowl

2 at the moment. One was an Xmas present from my ds's nanna, she asked him what she should get me, he said I dunno, a kettle. So I got a cheap red kettle that takes a fortnight to boil, the other one has annoying red steps in it.

Mine lives inside a big mixing bowl, in a cupboard alongside pudding basins.

I have more than enough already packed into the sauce/frying pan drawers.
Colander lives nicely tucked into the biggest stockpot-type saucepan.

We have a family of sieves on hooks on the mug rail along an otherwise unusable wall of a galley kitchen:

I like your little rail, but why are they all Upside Down?!Shock

InMySpareTime · 21/08/2022 08:08

@hugoagogo they are that way up because it's a galley kitchen and having the centre of gravity higher means they don't sway and clang whenever someone walks past them.

FiveDollarMilkshake · 21/08/2022 08:41

I love that you have a back up sieve OP. Also you’re perfectly correct that the sieve should be with the mixing bowls.

How do you all clean them if I may ask?

KangarooKenny · 21/08/2022 08:43

Ours lives in the mixing bowl as they are both similar sizes.
