A clue for my number 9- this is by a band but was a hit for someone else- a woman. A regular poster on here would definitely get it I think! I can post more lyrics on my 3 outstanding.

I missed yours, just had a look - number 9 is Hand in Glove by The Smiths

AllTheYoungGoodyTwoShoes · 24/10/2022 07:25

Is this The Pet Shop Boys, maybe West end girls?

I'm Not Scared was actually written by Pet Shop Boys and their own version was on one of their albums.

RiftGibbon · 22/10/2022 22:12

I didn't think of having a theme! Australian band, probably not massively well known. Apparently this song got to no.90 in the UK charts in 1988.
I thought it had done better, hence posting it! 🤨

Sounds a bit too obscure for me @RiftGibbon !

Ah that makes sense now, sounds like a Pet shop boys line! Yes Patsy Kensit's band, I thought she was stunning then, loved Lethal Weapon too!

AllTheYoungGoodyTwoShoes · 24/10/2022 20:39

AllTheYoungGoodyTwoShoes · 23/10/2022 20:35

Some more on the theme too!

  1. We can go wherever we please
And everything depends upon How near you stand to me
  1. Roll you like you were dice
    Until you come out blue

  2. As the flames rose to her Roman

    nose

  3. When the morning comes
    I'll be far away
    And I say

All 80s.

Still 10 and 12 of mine to get.

Honeyroar · 25/10/2022 00:14

Kim Carne. I'm such a tagalong 😳

ddl1 · 25/10/2022 09:03

Here are those that haven't been guessed yet, with a few extra lines added:

(1) Here's your coat and here's your shoes/ And don't forget your blues/Your own canoe now you'll have to row (40s/50s)

(3) Yeah. she knows how to move, how to rock...And she's stoned like a flash in the night ... Every time I make a move, she tells me no. (70s)

(4) Too bad, so long, it's driving me mad/ The top down on my car/ I don't suppose that everyone knows/ Exactly who you are/ But you/ You make things that get along/ Turn out so wrong. (70s)

(5) Mother phoned up last night she was going spare/She was in a temper pulling out her hair.../I said to me mother let me have a talk to dad/
So he comes to the telephone he wasnt half mad (late 70s)

(10) I was alone on the road and your love was so confusing/
All my teachers told me, I had myself to blame/ But in the grip of sensual illusion/ The sweet unknowing unified the name. (2010s),

Honeyroar · 25/10/2022 09:27

I was in search of a good time
Just running my game
(80s)

AllTheYoungGoodyTwoShoes · 25/10/2022 12:14

Correct @Honeyroar and @NeedToKnow101 for Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes.

Just one more of mine to get- clue- eyes are in the title too, male singer who is back in the charts just now.

4 - See My Baby Jive by Wizzard/Roy Wood

5 is a Chas n Dave song, something like I Don't Care if he Comes Round Here

Imnotswallowingthat · 25/10/2022 12:24

AllTheYoungGoodyTwoShoes · 25/10/2022 12:14

Correct @Honeyroar and @NeedToKnow101 for Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes.

The only male singer from the 80s who is in the charts at the moment is Elton John - so I am going to guess at Blue Eyes, but it is a complete guess !

AllTheYoungGoodyTwoShoes · 25/10/2022 12:40

Correct @Imnotswallowingthat for Blue eyes by Elton John, I thought that clue would give it away! 😁

RiftGibbon · 25/10/2022 13:42

Apologies, hadn't realised how obscure mine was. I must have heard it on the radio a few times and taken it to be more popular.

Under the Milky Way - The Church

NeedToKnow101 · 25/10/2022 14:02
  1. Through the hard times and the good - 90s

    1. Bite your lip, And take a trip
Though there may be wet road ahead 70s

    2. Why not think about times to come
And not about the things that you've done 70s

    3. I got a taste of love in a simple way 80s

    4. Money doesn't grow on trees
But babies come from ladies 80s

    5. Somebody new 70s

      mom's spaghetti 00

    7. Work is never over 00

    8. You were watching the whites of your eyes turn red 80s

    9. It's up to us to choose
Whether we win or lose 00s

I've posted the lyrics to song 5 before and they've never been got. Bonus half point for whoever gets them 😜

Imnotswallowingthat · 25/10/2022 14:17

@NeedToKnow101

1 - Praise You by Fatboy Slim
4 - I'm Still Standing by Elton John

Number 5 is definitely a song that Terry Hall sang on, I can picture him singing that line in my head, so its either a Specials or Fun Boy 3 track. Trouble is I can't recall the name of the song !

Correct artist, wrong song.

Honeyroar · 25/10/2022 14:31

That would explain why I can’t get any of them N2K!!

Imnotswallowingthat · 25/10/2022 14:41

Honeyroar · 25/10/2022 14:29

Correct artist, wrong song.

Carribean Queen ?
