For me in the UK - Cornwall & North Wales.
Abroad - a campsite in S. France 10 mins from St Tropez.

Not so posh
Salou & Cambrils
Tenerife
Won't be returning anytime soon.

We recently sold all our camping stuff to a very posh family. We did have some 'right brand' equipment. I expect they are on a fancy campsite now drinking fizz and BBQing locally sourced hand reared pork sausages.

@Allmarbleslost I think it’s more researching that your holiday location doesn’t have features you wish to avoid. I saw a hotel I liked in Cala’n Bosch, but after a Google Maps walk of the area (seriously 😁) I avoided booking because of the Sky Sports bar and a bar that had tribute bands! I always have a good research of the area.

Yes! I love a good Google maps wander!

Jessica60 · 16/08/2022 12:44

What hotel is that please. I'm looking to book tenerife.

Yes! I love a good Google maps wander!

In fact because of these threads I've had a jolly good look around the north Norfolk coast and the Cotswolds.

I also noticed Salcombe seems to have a 50 metre stretch that includes Joules, Mountain Warehouse, Crew, Fat Face, Jack Wills, White Stuff and Seasalt which is hilarious but I still want to go!

What happens if a 'fat pleb in a vest top' crosses the line from Hunstanton into Old Hunstanton? Are they chased back to the WC side by a Joules wearing swishy haired MC woman brandishing an artisan loaf?

Yes. And squirting them with Jo Malone Cologne

CuriousCatfish · 16/08/2022 10:58

We went to Burnham Market once for about an hour because it was so dull and I spent most of my time there taking the piss out of the artisan ice cream and F & B painted front doors.

If it was the local brand Ronaldo’s you should have bought a 3 scoop cone. It is fantastic and has been going for many years before the word ‘artisan’ was flaunted!

Yes, we didn't stay around in Holt long either. The eye watering prices for the hand made tat in the Maltings was enough for me to drive back to Sheringham as fast as i could.

Maltings? Were you at Snape by any chance?

boatahoy · 16/08/2022 13:22

Forte village in Sardinia, Amalfi coast, St Andrews and anywhere we seem to have been in the Caribbean.

I guess what I mean is when did the Londoners decide to start camping? 😁 I doubt it's their main summer holiday & they usually arrive in convoy with other families. It's so interesting the way trends change..

The development of sites that allow campfires, a wild-style ‘camp where you like’ policy, on site bushcraft and spoon carving courses for the kids. Weekends teaching then to enjoy healthy wholesome outdoor pursuits, in a bell tent, cooking aforesaid organic hand made sausages.

This is me

What is a penny rolling scruff?

I imagine it’s a dig at people who play the slot machine in the arcades.

I’d rather be a penny rolling scruff than the type of person who judges people so critically 😉.

OhTheLeetleHandsAndFeetle · 16/08/2022 08:35

Agreed. People were enjoying themselves, however, just not how I like to enjoy myself. It was much more MC up by the abbey, the199 steps proving to be off-putting to some.

Oh, it’ll just be the obese, penny rolling riff raft put off by the 199 steps 🙄.

Possibly, they were all much the same.

KimberleyClark · 16/08/2022 13:36

Saundersfoot (Pembrokeshire just up the coast from Tenby) and parts of the Gower peninsula.

Saundersfoot is full of WC people from South Wales. Coppet Hall round the corner is MC become it’s so expensive.

Wells Next the Sea is an interesting one. Partly both I’d say based on our holiday there this year. It’s got posher in the 20 years I’ve been visiting.

@Womblingforfree that reminds me of the time we unwittingly booked into a Camping and Caravan Club site. After accidentally breaking multiple rules within the first hour (including orientation of tent, the small tent for the children etc) the warden said "You aren't members are you?"

We camp multiple times a year... never had any issues before...

@PuttingDownRoots yes we did similar once. Got told off because the DC weren't allowed on the playground without an adult. Playground was directly in front of our tent. They were 8 and 10 at the time. Surely the whole point of camping is that they run free. Hardly feral. I get the feeling dogs are more welcome at C&CC than DC. But then I'd take them over the composting loos.

Where was this? We obviously don't go to the posh campsites all the kids in the vicinity (ours very much included) are feral😁

I've found with caravan and camping club that the rules are very much dependent on the wardens. Some definitely don't like children. They're really geared towards couples in my experience. But I've been to a couple which were lovely.

Heard a lot of posh British accents in San Sebastián last week. I tried to pretend we were not British!!

Really? I hardly heard any. Most of the tourists were French and Spanish.

ninnynonny · 16/08/2022 18:57

We've got some properly snotty MCs next to us here in Wells. Everyone else, whatever class they think they're in has been perfectly friendly and polite but this lot have clearly spotted our 'clearly the oldest car on Pinewoods' and decided we must be sneered at.
They're the classless ones in my book

Padstow was very middle class.

Cala d'Or in Majorca has a middle class end and a WC end.

Really, which is which? We are off to Cala d’or in sept for the first time 😀

AuxArmesCitoyens · 16/08/2022 20:26

I see your southwold and raise you snape maltings...

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 16/08/2022 20:32

Bloody narrow boating as a teen. The tiny living space was a hell of simmering tension the entire week. Never again.
