To show you what a few traffic-stopping Mumsnetters got up to in the sun today?

These were the scenes outside hot and sunny Belfast City Hall earlier today as quite a few Mumsnetters joined thousands of other people in stopping the traffic for Noah Donohoe.

I'll post a few more photos too.

So heartening to see that so many people fundamentally care about that poor families loss.

Another short video, with thanks to Gerry Carroll MLA of People Before Profit, who also spoke at the rally and features here alongside Fiona and Niamh:

Great turn out today. Noah's photo was on the big screens at the Feile 80s night as well.

We stand with Fiona.
We want justice for Noah.
We want our children to be safe.

I mentioned this to my husband. He'd not heard about Noah's story, or his mother's fight for information.

He knows now.

I hadn't heard about this case until yesterday so hadn't had a chance to think deeper, but this got me thinking. How do people in the area feel now. Do they feel unsafe and worried for their own dc? There are bad people (and I'm assuming people rather than one person) out there who probably feel untouchable now, and a police force who don't appear to want to change that. I'd not want to let my kids out my site. Are dc themselves worried? The police haven't just let down Noah and his family but an entire community who continues to be unsafe while this is ignored!

What's the problem moving the thread into the right section for it?

AIBU has become polluted with off-topic threads "for traffic" and should be used for real AIBU questions.

"AIBU to show you what a few traffic-stopping Mumsnetters got up to in the sun today?"

Doesn't read like a proper AIBU? Then it probably doesn't belong in AIBU...

KhaleesiOfChaos · 14/08/2022 07:41

Hi Daily Mail!

Maybe this is one thread you SHOULD publish?! I can't believe yesterday's rally wasn't reported at all...odd.

Polluted? Really? Have a word with yourself.

The rally is definitely on the bbc news.

And If there are any thoughts around the notion this is only of interest to those in NI, let me make it clear that I am English born and bred and have never set foot in NI. I’m still passionately behind Fiona and her attempts to get justice.

This abhorrent murder, and the abhorrent attempts to pervert the course of justice by abusing official powers should outrage all of us. It’s a stain on our society and ‘democracy’.

Absolutely.

This happened in the UK. This is news.

At least put it in the News section. The family clearly want the threads to exist and they want the discussion to be out there.

This about releasing files. That’s the supposed ‘activism’ - which is a funny way to describe a mother’s love on a parenting site. It’s not political activism, it’s about a little boy was killed and why it was potentially covered up, in the United Kingdom.

Also bumping. An amazing turnout.
My heart goes out to his family.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 14/08/2022 07:58

@BelfastsChild what a brilliant turnout and the chanting at the feile is amazing! Keep it up! I couldn't make it yesterday but really hope to turn out if there's more. I really hope Fiona gets answers, the whole thing is as dodgy as anything. Someone knows what happened to that poor child.

picklemewalnuts · 14/08/2022 08:11

I believe the inquest has not yet happened. This quote was in the newspapers
"As always, the coroner will continue to have full sight of all material in this case and he will have the final decision on PII."

Does that mean at the inquest he will decide what to release to the family? Is that a good thing?

FourTeaFallOut · 14/08/2022 08:14

No. It's not. It's obscene.

liveforsummer · 14/08/2022 08:16

Yet normally the 'posted for traffic' don't get moved. Why this one?

FourTeaFallOut · 14/08/2022 08:21

Yes, let's not let the clandestine bullshit surrounding the murder of a child "pollute" the pure and worthy aims of the aibu board 🙄 Bloody shameful.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 14/08/2022 08:27

No unfortunately not.
There is little to no faith in the coroner either.
They never took a water sample from Noah's lungs or stomach in the autopsy, that is standard practice for a drowning victim to ensure they drowned where they were found so they could match the samples to the filthy rubbish rat laden drain that Noah was found in.

The media blackout on this case has been horrific though to blatantly ignore the rally yesterday is shocking.

Thankfully James English gave Fiona the platform to speak.

I'm very grateful he did.

Jetstream · 14/08/2022 08:38

I think so.

And I’ve been here a long time. The News board is absolutely appropriate.
