Have soap opera had their day!

I noticed a news story the other day saying eastenders has its lowest ratings ever.

It made me think, hardly anyone I know watches them anymore.
I honestly think in ten years time they will be gone from tv

Corrie has been going downhill for several years so you could be right. There's no excitement about big storylines in major soaps because they happen so frequently.

The only one I watch these days is Classic Coronation Street occasionally and that's because it's showing episodes from when it was actually good. Great writing and every day situations which people could relate to. Proper character actors.

It's all sensationalist these days, they all are.
Something would have to drastically change for them to survive.

I stopped watching them years ago. My 82 year old mother is devoted to them.

I did have the TV going in the background today and Corrie came on. I laughed as Spider was on it - not sure how long he's been back on but when he left was probably the last time I watched it.
