I have a business meeting in a couple of weeks and given the weather I want to wear something as fresh as possible, ideally sleeveless.

I'd say not business meeting appropriate.

lastminutedotcom22 · 11/08/2022 11:04

Jesus Christ to a business meeting??

Only if you are a rep for a tennis 🎾 ball company on a court!!!

Hell no

Go for something classy, tailored and linen seasalt have some good tunics

Onlyrainbows · 11/08/2022 11:04

Thanks I'll look at my local m&s for the linen one. I genuinely don't want to look too formal for the meeting. I would happily wear smart shorts and a shirt too, but can't find anything!

Have been to seasalt, fat Face, joules, phase eight, and mint velvet, I didn't like anything! Apart from a shirt at Joules, but it's longsleeve

They are obviously all tennis dresses.

It might be cool and rainy in two weeks time!

Going off piste a bit …
I worked with a woman who became a laughing stock, a point of ridicule because she wore inappropriate dress lengths to work, low tops etc.
We were male heavy in the demographic of staff & most blokes used to enjoy the show but also ridiculed her.
They used to stand at the bottom of the open staircases to watch her climb up so they could see what she had for breakfast.
Décolletage or knees, not both, so they say!
The tennis style dress is not the best idea so keep an open mind and look elsewhere.
Depends what impression you want to create.
Im sure you’ll look great in whatever you choose.

Fucking hell. I hope you didn't let them get away with that type of behaviour.

@Onlyrainbows those are definitely tennis dresses. Surely you can find something else to wear.

JaneJeffer · 11/08/2022 11:17

Bold failure 🙄

Onlyrainbows · 11/08/2022 11:19

Earlier this year, the whole company went to a convention and I was the most overdressed there, so I don't want to make the same mistake again

If you Google ‘petite summer dresses’ you will find literally thousands which don’t make you look like you’ve come straight from a game of tennis!

RudsyFarmer · 11/08/2022 11:21

Are they too ‘tennis’ when the model is actually holding a racquet 🤣🤣

minipie · 11/08/2022 11:23

petite linen shift dress

BellePeppa · 11/08/2022 11:25

I don’t know what kind of business meeting it is but those dresses are not very professional. Are you sure it’s a meeting and not a pool party?

peridito · 11/08/2022 11:26

OP post over on style and beauty www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beautyand give some idea of your height and shape and size. They'll sort you out .

minipie · 11/08/2022 11:27

boden option 1

boden option 2

boden option 3

Bootothegoose · 11/08/2022 11:27

Definitely inappropriate!

Look on next there's 100's of options!

Onlyrainbows · 11/08/2022 11:27

That's a decent maybe option mini. I'm short but don't have petite proportions (so petite doesn't always fit).

It can't zip up at the back (for obvious reasons). The meeting is not a pool party but it is with one of the biggest caravan resort chains.

Too short

is it a meeting or is it a piss up as that changes things slightly...

Either way a tennis dress is rather an odd choice to have arrived at

If it’s a casual dress meeting then shorts (not the ones the girls are wearing with their arse cheeks hanging out 😬) with a summer top? The kind of outfit I’ve seen Kate Middleton wear?

Maireas · 11/08/2022 11:34

Like pp, I don't understand why you don't wear a regular summer dress? Cool, practical, appropriate for work...there are literally hundreds!

Maireas · 11/08/2022 11:34

Chemenger · 11/08/2022 11:03

M&S has 59 sleeveless knee length dresses, I’m sure there would be something suitable there.

Quite.

KittyMcKitty · 11/08/2022 11:35

Sorry off topic but what are the obvious reasons it can’t zip up the back?

LunaAndHerMoonDragons · 11/08/2022 11:36

This one's good. I'm short, I'd have to hem a Maxi dress, but Midi dresses are usually a good length.
