Things that are now forever named after something your kid said

In our household, I make a rice dish sometimes that is named after my son's reaction to it when he was about 3. Knowing he liked rice and sweetcorn, I presented him with this dish that includes both, only for his little face to crumple and him to give an anguished cry of 'MUMMY, WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO IT?!'

So of course, it has ever since been known as 'Mummy why did you do that to it?!' (I've even crossed out the name in the recipe book and written it there). DS is now 11 and actually likes MWDYDTTI these days, although he still leaves the green peppers.

Is there anything that your household now refers to by something memorable one of the kids has said?

The downstairs loo will always be The Desperate Toilet in our house,

The same child came home from school telling us they'd been learning about Jesus and the Leapers.

Granddaughter calls our little garden light a crocodile, even though it’s a tortoise. So it’s been that since she was 2.

Ahh my 2 both said cucumber really cute. One said cupiner and the other said cuumba. Oh and peacock was definitely "big c**k". Very hard (excuse the pun!) not to laugh when he said that.!

My 2 year old calls them 'comboopers' 🤣

pinkstripeycat · 28/01/2024 11:13

When I was a child:
Remote control: kamote or the blib (because when we first got one it made a blib noise when you pressed the buttons)

My own children:
gloves: glubs
laptop: doptec
sausage, egg & bacon toastie: soseggba

blimmy · 28/01/2024 11:16

So many words are ingrained into our family vocabulary since my kids were toddlers - they are now 23, 19 and 17 but I can't see us ever changing now!
In no particular order:
Mr Freckleston - Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who at the time)
Jamie Character - Jamie Carragher (favourite football player of the time)
Bubble juice - fizzy flavoured water
Green toast - garlic bread
Corn beep ash - corned beef hash
Maggot finding glass - magnifying glass
Camel fudge - camouflage
Man car - motorbike
Hohodays - on holiday
Yowie - cat
Totters - was used for Thomas the tank engine but we say it for any Thomas
"Fyuff and cyumbs" - if somewhere is in need of dusting!
And this is one that has pervaded from my own childhood - I thought the song 'Eton Rifles ' was called Eat Trifles. My sons are fans of The Jam now and this is what they call that song.🤣
Oh another song one from me - I also thought 'You're the one that I want ' from Grease was 'you're the wobbly dog' - so this is also how that gets referred to 🤣
