Things that are now forever named after something your kid said

In our household, I make a rice dish sometimes that is named after my son's reaction to it when he was about 3. Knowing he liked rice and sweetcorn, I presented him with this dish that includes both, only for his little face to crumple and him to give an anguished cry of 'MUMMY, WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO IT?!'

So of course, it has ever since been known as 'Mummy why did you do that to it?!' (I've even crossed out the name in the recipe book and written it there). DS is now 11 and actually likes MWDYDTTI these days, although he still leaves the green peppers.

Is there anything that your household now refers to by something memorable one of the kids has said?

Funny how often eggs are mentioned in this thread.....
We still call boiled eggs 'bang bang eggs' visitors have been confused but it seems normal to us both kids adults now.

We still use 'bellbow ' for elbow & my eldest still says 'light saver' when watching Star Wars films.

Aw I miss those days!

"Legs and toes"

Eggs on toast.

My son, c2001

@contrary13

Ah this reminds me of my mum's mince & everything stew. She used the huge saucepan which had the alternative use of boiling up my dad's hankies & y fronts once a monthEnvy

I always boil up the Turkey carcass after Christmas & my kids always warned my husband "careful it's boiled bones for tea tonight ".

When my daughter was quite young she went out to lunch with a friend at the Gary Carvery! We now always call the Toby Carvery the Gary Carvery!

littlepeas · 10/08/2022 14:44

Cheese sandwich upside down - cheese toastie
Extra puddings - Yorkshire puddings
Straw-bees and Razz-bees

We alway say 'I wanna go on the luuuuuge' in a whiny voice to indicate that someone is being a bit spoilt.

NecklessMumster · 10/08/2022 15:13

Wraps/tortillas = 'moon bread '
Beer = 'beard
Non animated films = 'people in their own skins'
And from Mr Gum books...'funty' for funny and 'it's a mittersy' for mystery.

@canyon2000

DH and I were on the train home one night. The very well spoken man across the aisle from us phoned his wife. "Don't bother cooking tonight, I'll take you out instead." He then added "nothing special, only the Toby".

So in our house the Toby Carvery is known as "nothing special". I think I prefer the Gary now though.

Motorbikes were meatballs just remembered that one as I'm thinking of starting dinner. A firm favourite in our house setting and motorbikes!

Cips = chips
Scits = biscuits
Rip stones = grave stones
Spiscetti = spaghetti
Poon = spoon

There are probably some more that I've forgotten over the years. He's now 11.

There are still a few words used from when me and Dsis were younger.

Pinower = piano
Shish and fips = fish and chips
Wigany = vinegar

Thankfully one that isn't used unless in jest is fukinknife which is knife and fork.😆

Oh yeah we still sometimes refer to "fockin wife" which is what my kid called cutlery when she was tiny,

Arnaquer · 10/08/2022 20:39

My younger brother used to call my dads allegro a 'mistake' car. ( Estate - although the amount of times it broke down probably was a mistake!) has stuck to this day over 40 years later.

hewouldwouldnthe · 10/08/2022 20:41

Sun in my eyes on a sunny day became 'sunny eyes'.

Gam wee is the trampoline

CathyorClaire · 10/08/2022 20:56

Yellow will never not be known as 'Lellow' and fish will never not be referred to as 'foosh' in this house.

Thank you for your outstanding contributions to family life, dd and ds2 Grin

ladygindiva · 10/08/2022 21:03

MegaClutterSlut · 10/08/2022 21:28

eviesmum · 10/08/2022 21:32

Certificates as tertificates

Hippos as hitototinesses

Pumpkins as pinkies

She's coming up to 20 now

DurhamDurham · 10/08/2022 21:32

About 15 year ago we went on holiday to a campsite in France and the camp kids club team used to shout out 'Enemy Pirate Ship Approaching' when a car was coming and they had to get out of the road.
We still do this today, it's been passed down to our granddaughter now, she's four and shouts it out when we're waiting to cross the road Smile

purpleypinkwitch · 10/08/2022 21:38

Ponker - conker
Membershit - membership
Poke John Paul - Pope John Paul

Chattycathydoll · 10/08/2022 21:51

DD likes, and has always liked, curry. But at one point a kid at nursery said curry was yuck.
‘not to worry!’ I replied. ‘This isn’t curry; this is very thick lentil soup.’
So now all varieties of curry have code names which have stuck. ‘Warm stew’, ‘lentil soup’, ‘yellow tagine’ they are all curry.

Also I forgot the name of the tumble dryer and called it the clothes microwave. So it’s now the clothes microwave forever.

listsandbudgets · 10/08/2022 21:58

And in our house is known simply as the tilly room.

Picnics are nicnics

Paramummy3 · 10/08/2022 22:00

Raw feet instead of bare feet!

Ziggyisthebestdogintheworld · 10/08/2022 22:05

Tesco is still known in our house as ‘the biscuit shop’
god knows why as I didn’t buy any when they where tiny!

mrwalkensir · 10/08/2022 22:09
