Just wondering what age people tend to develop health issues if at all.
I'm 39 with no health issues.

5 yrs old? I mean, define what you mean. Something that never gets better? Only physical or mental too.? Something so chronic its part of ones identity?

KangarooKenny · 07/08/2022 21:22

About 33 when I was diagnosed hypothyroid, but the tablets mean I don’t notice. I’d say I was about 42/43 when I started to feel like I was getting older.

49 for me. After a very healthy life before that.

28, seriously but often unwell as a child beyond usual childhood ailments.

DeedIDo · 07/08/2022 21:51

In peri menopause,so 40s, I developed an underactive thyroid, a heart condition related to low oestrogen levels and vaginal atrophy. I'm stuck with all three now, although they are all under control.

50, it all seemed to go downhill from there. I hadn't had any health issues at all till I hit 50. I'm now 54 and it's been one thing after another. I feel like I don't know my own body any more.

BuzzBeeEmoticon · 07/08/2022 21:59

I got diagnosed with Crohns last year but my stomach issues were undiagnosed 10 years prior to that, started when I was 23. Have been suffering with various things since!

AnnieJ1985 · 07/08/2022 22:01

Diagnosed with MS at 30 but I am pretty healthy apart from that

thefizz · 07/08/2022 22:04

As an older person than many of you, I have been extremely fortunate health wise. First ever hospital stay at 65 years (this year). Bits and pieces wrong but I' so far I've weathered them all (touch wood). The medics could not believe that I had never been in hospital before or had a general anaesthetic either.

We don't value our health until we don't have it.

RudsyFarmer · 07/08/2022 22:05

Peri menopause has caused me some issues. So post 45. I also now have some weird ankle issue I didn’t have before that hadn’t resolved which means I can no longer wear high heels.

Tanfastic · 07/08/2022 22:06

Probably when I started perimenopause when I was about 43. I got a UTI that lasted 3 months, since then I've suffered with permanent vertigo and acid reflux, all brought on by age I suspect, I'm 49 now.

Urgh the acid reflux is driving me demented. Hoped HRT would help but no

AmberGer · 07/08/2022 22:09

Mid 30's started having chronic migraines.
Now early 40s recently diagnosed IBS but due to recent issues, blood test results and family history, I suspect it's crohn's. Going to make another Dr's appointment tomorrow.

MargaretThursday · 07/08/2022 22:10

Enjoy your last year. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 07/08/2022 22:10

9 years old

isthatwhatyoureallywanted · 07/08/2022 22:12

I'm 46
I'm fortunate and don't have any health problems as such, but ... I went skiing this year for the first time in about 20 years and that brought home to me that I now much more conscious of my body that I used to be. I used to just have a body. Now, I was constantly thinking about "oh, my lower back ... I wonder if this will set that off" or "oh, I thought that was my good knee" and that sort of thing.
I've also started wearing glasses and have noticed my hearing is no where near as good as it used to be.

amusedbush · 07/08/2022 22:12

I'm 32 and have this year been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, PoTS and hypermobility. However, the symptoms have plagued me for many, many years; I first went to the GP with (what I now realise was) a symptom when I was 17. I've pushed for blood tests and investigation over the years but because none of them show up on a blood test, I was repeatedly told I was fine.

Yep, I'm so "fine" I use a walking stick. I recently bought a shower seat so I don't pass out due to standing for ten minutes. I feel fucking elderly at 32 Sad

Oh, and insomnia, profuse sweating and raging IBS are side effects of fibro nobody really talks about - it's all glamour here!

MercuryOnTheRise · 07/08/2022 22:16

Hyperactive thyroid at 30ish. No real problems but hypo due to treatment. No real bother for more than 30 years.

Osteoporosis diagnosed at 54. First vertebrae fracture at 55, 2nd at 61. Nobody would really know. My back is stiff but not painful. It gets very tired if I am on my feet.

I am injecting a parathyroid hormone at my own expense under a consultant rheumatologist. I fear another fall as if another one goes I think so too may my quality of life.

Ragwort · 07/08/2022 22:17

I feel incredibly lucky ... I am 64 and, apart from slightly high blood pressure for which I take medication, I've never had any health issues ... I am unfit and overweight but that is entirely due to greed and laziness Grin.

My DM is very healthy too - 90 next year but active, fit and enjoying life.
