If you have a cleaner

How happy (on a scale of 1-10) are you with their work?
I’m thinking of hiring one because whilst I’m quite efficient, staying on top of everything can be very very challenging. But I often read on MN how ppl can be dissatisfied with the quality of work. I’d also find it very difficult to let someone go as I’d feel guilty.
pls share your experiences and whether a DIY approach is less hassle

Sorry, I should add I WFH and main reason for needing one is I’m trying to do more hands on teaching with my SEN child

Can I give more than 10 out of 10 as my cleaner goes over and above everything I could possibly hope for !

I do like her - she does work hard. She vacuums for far too long. She dusts around objects, she doesn’t empty the bin or do the dishwasher. She doesn’t do any washing / folding/ bed changing/ fridge cleaning so I think she could maybe achieve more in the 7 hrs (as previous cleaners have managed) plus she mops with cold water never understand that….. plus a language barrier. However ANY help is amazing if she is honest and doesn't steal anything (the last cleaners were absolutely amazing but stole a LOT of items 🤬)

but my bathrooms are clean 🤩 so I’ll stick with her especially as it’s a Friday 8-3 cleaning slot 🤩

What did they steal?

We have one. Am I 100% delighted all the time? No, because on occasion there are things that I personally would do differently. Is she worth it? Absolutely, because the house is clean and it has given us some time back

Between a 7 and 9 (but as PP said taking the stress out of cleaning the house top to bottom is a 100/10!). She does superficial clean - Hoovers, mops, bathrooms, kitchens, 2.5 hrs a week (4bed house) and I do bits in between.

Had a not great experience with a cleaning company previously, they were unreliable with the times they'd turn up so we were always back and forth on text and would send different people every week, for me it was important to have the same person who would get to know us and our house and who could commit to the same time each week.

9/10 (occasionally they slink off early!) but 100/10 satisfaction rate for sure as said above, they are a godsend and we've had them years and I'd be heartbroken if I lost them, I trust them completely and they're so reliable and friendly.

10, I feel very blessed. Not only does she clean everything brilliantly, she's reliable, communicative and just a nice person. The only problem is that she goes to Bulgaria for the 6 week school summer holidays to see her parents, sister etc & I have to clean the house then.

Ours is pretty poor, I'd say around a 3-4. Some things always get done e.g. hoovering, cleaning shower screen, mopping floors, but nothing is done very thoroughly e.g. this week there was a very obvious weetabix mark left after they'd mopped. The shower tray doesn't get cleaned, this week the bathroom sink wasn't cleaned. The corners are never clean. It is an agency and very over priced but we can't find anyone else with a vacancy so we will stick with them until we do.

@bluechameleon this inconsistency would about me! I’d have to go over at least some things.

I’m also really worried about the PP that said don’ some had stolen in the past! I’ve got stuff everywhere and might take time to notice if anything had been taken and then I’d get paranoid that maybe it’s just me?

i think the general consensus is that most posters are happy with their cleaners which is great news.
