I'll start. I was making muffins this morning and realised that my cheap poundland muffin tins from 10 years ago are still serving their purpose.

Veg peeler bought when I left home for Uni, 20+ years ago. Was about £1.

Bollindger · 02/02/2023 14:16

Cooking bacon Tesco, 500g is under £1.

An armchair as a nursing chair for €35. That baby is now at Secondary school and likes reading in it.

Beachcomber · 02/02/2023 14:23

Electric hand whisk bought from Aldi middle aisle about 15 years ago for about a tenner.
Has survived being dropped many times, kids banging it about, etc and still goes like the clappers and does a better job than the (very expensive) Kitchen Aid.

TomAllenWife · 02/02/2023 14:26

An egg cooker - I've had it for about 20 years and still use it most days

Shunkleisshiny · 02/02/2023 14:31

A Zyliss potato chipper bought 1979 from Boots in Worksop ( yes Boots used to sell homeware).
Still going strong and I use it at least twice a week, the plastic has a few cracks in it but until it falls to bits I will keep using it.

Topbird29 · 02/02/2023 15:22

A metal casserole lidded pot (big oval shaped). Blight just after uni 27 years ago from argos for about £10. Great for stews, can fit a roast chicken in, can use on top of cooker and in oven, clears easy and not heavy like the le creuset my dh has

Topbird29 · 02/02/2023 15:22

Bought...not blight!

TokyoSushi · 02/02/2023 15:24

A comb. Bought in Butlins in Pwllhelli in 1993 for about 20p, still use every day!

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 02/02/2023 15:29

Matalan bath towels. Bought them for my therapy clinic and they lasted for years and still looked good. This despite being laundered very frequently. When they had finally seen better days I bought various other brands and paid more and nothing came close.

gingergiraffe · 02/02/2023 16:02

A small, cheap saucepan, bought 45 years ago when I was at college. Still going but used now to boil eggs. My Kenwood food processor. Bought about 40 years ago.

ModerationInEverything · 02/02/2023 16:09

A cheap stick blender from Argos. About £6. It had lasted years and made gallons of soup.

ReamsOfCheese · 02/02/2023 16:11

My pink wide-toothed comb. Free from Shout magazine circa 1997.

PermanentTemporary · 02/02/2023 16:14

A luggage trolley thing,.2 wheels and an extendable handle, folds away neatly. I bought it about 30 years ago for a move, it might have cost £12? Makes moving suitcases, boxes, plant pots, garden bags and Christmas trees a doddle.

hugoagogo · 02/02/2023 16:16

A £5 folding table from home bargains nearly 20 years ago. I so wish I had bought two.

Doggydarling · 02/02/2023 16:57

2 second hand kenwood chef food mixers, had them serviced and was told they're both older than me (50 years), both work brilliantly so I've one put away just incase.

newtb · 02/02/2023 17:04

A wooden 2-handled corkscrew bought from Habitat 48 years ago, just before going to uni. Still works.

MooFroo · 02/02/2023 17:07

IKEA microwave steamer - now over 21 years old and still going strong - was probably under a fiver

My pink wide-toothed comb. Free from Shout magazine circa 1997.

I have a blue one from Mizz magazine around 1994, still going strong!!

IHeartGeneHunt · 02/02/2023 18:01

In 1986 my mum bought a roasting tin from Woolworth's for (she thinks) 20p. I still use it at least twice a week.

WinterCarlisle · 02/02/2023 18:06

Didn’t actually buy it myself but we were given a rice cooker 20 years ago as a wedding present. It’s used loads and still works perfectly. It was a “joke” present as I’m rubbish at cooking rice and was really cheap. The giftee is constantly astonished that it’s still going strong.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 02/02/2023 18:08

So many things!

I have a sandwich toaster from Argos which cost £5 25 years ago and still turns out a fabulous toastie.

My Woolworths iron, sieve and measuring jug are about the same age, as are my £10 beaters from Homebase.

I often find the more basic an item is, the longer it lasts.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 02/02/2023 18:09

Bought a Philips hair trimmer in the sale at Argos for £12 in 2011 which is still going strong. Only bought because DH needed an emergency hair cut!

Pearlsister · 02/02/2023 18:29

I bought a mixed box of stuff at an auction in 1986. There was a Phillips hand mixer in it that is still going strong today.

IHeartGeneHunt · 02/02/2023 18:34

My hair straighteners, thinking about it, were £8.99 in Netto 17 years ago and they're still going.
