I'll start. I was making muffins this morning and realised that my cheap poundland muffin tins from 10 years ago are still serving their purpose.

I had a Kitchen Devils knife from 1998 and it only snapped a year or so ago. The new Kitchen Devils ones are rubbish though, not nearly as sharp and sturdy.

That's reminded me; I have two kitchen devil knives from when I got married in 1983. Still used on a daily basis.

Pair of boots bought for £10 from Dolcis in the 1990s. Still so comfy.

God I miss Dolcis.

I have a bread knife from my mums house that i remember being there as a child. Its indestructible and seems to have somehow survived numerous house moves. Its used all the time.
I also have a vase i bought in the m and s sale when i moved into my first house 20 years ago. Its like brand new
Think it was 4 or 5 pound.

moolady1977 · 02/02/2023 22:15

I didn't buy it but I still have my nannans rolling pin and my DM(67) can remember it being around when she was little, I also have some crystal glasses that belonged to my nannan she died in 1982 and I have photos of her with one in her hand

A Habitat pine gate leg dining table from 1982. I keep thinking about replacing it, but it is so well made.

RomansTheyGoTheHouse · 02/02/2023 22:20

I have a cheap IKEA roasting dish I bought about 23 years ago. It's still used and looks almost as good as it did brand new.

It'll outlast me.

Ikea basics cot; cost £35. Did all 3 children.

One of my tea-towels has “people’s friend 1984” on it 😂

People's Friend! Wow! You have just bought back a flood of childhood memories!
Thank you Cake

It may not have been cheap when new though! It belonged to my aunt who gave it to me for free when I bought my first flat.

I’ve got a clock radio that I bought in Argos for a fiver back when I was 16 in the 90s, still wakes me up every morning.

Also a tea towel that I pinched from home when I moved out. It’s a map of the London Underground and is so old it has Trafalgar Square and Strand tube stations on it, which I think shut in early 70s.

Tesco value electric hand whisk. £5 13 years ago & still going strong.

NewNameForXmas · 02/02/2023 22:30

We have loads of old stuff as combined our house with PIL who have since died. One of our best purchases is the £100 we paid for a 2 and 3 seater leather couch set secondhand in about 2008, still perfect and really comfy. I also have one of PIL teatowels that says Western Australia 1978 on it!

L1ttledrummergirl · 02/02/2023 22:37

I have a readers digest recipe book from 1973 called the cookery year. It's fantastic and my go to but I did "borrow it" from my mum when I left home rather than bought it.

It's also the only thing I have left from our kitchen after we had a fire a few years ago. I rescued it, cut the charred edges off and recovered it.

RaininSummer · 02/02/2023 22:44

Cheese grater, rolling pin and garlic crusher now about 38 years old. Purchased by family when I left home.

I’ve still got the free tampax tampon holder we were given in school around about 1983 - despite the fact I’m menopausal now 😬😳

borntobequiet · 02/02/2023 22:57

A little travel hair dryer for £5 from I think Debenhams (?) in 1995 or so.
Though I mostly let my hair dry naturally, I still use it from time to time.

Small 2 person slow cooker which was a wedding present to my parents in 1981! They gave me it when they got a new one and it's still going strong! (I was born 6 years later 😂)

I have one of a similar era which belonged to my grandmother.

CleaningOutMyCloset · 02/02/2023 22:59
