Do you remember all your DC's early milestones.

My mum seems to know all of ours. Without looking it up (and they're not all recorded) I couldn't tell you much about my DC. I don't know what they weighed at birth, what day of the week it was or how long the labours were. I also don't know when they first sat, stood, walked or spoke or what their first words were.

Just me? They're 21 and 19yo now, but I don't think I've ever really remembered this stuff

I know weights and days of the week for them all. Age in months when they walked, that's about it. Youngest 2 had same first word so I remember theirs but not eldest (eldest is early 20s)

In short, no.

I had a baby book that tracked the first 5 yrs, I filled it in religiously! Weight
first tooth, first step, funny comments, what we bought them for Christmas etc …… totally unimportant now - but happy memories.
so glad I wrote it down ( btw they are 47, 46, and 44 now 🥰 )

DC 1 is 10 and I remember half of his milestones. DC 2....I only have a vague idea about any of them as I was exhausted. I feel guilty but I can't do anything about it..

"I don't know what they weighed at birth, what day of the week it was or how long the labours were."

I know all of this for both children and more e.g. percentage of weight loss in the early days, exact details of labour and delivery e.g how many minutes pushing etc.

"when they first sat, stood, walked or spoke or what their first words were."

Ds I remember word and walking. Can't remember the other stuff on your list but have it written in his baby journal. Dd is only 4 months so we shall see!

Two sons aged 13 and 18

Birth weights - yep remember both

Days born - yes as they are distinctive (there is a pattern in the family)

Time born - roughly, couldn't tell you to the minute. They were born different hours but very similar minutes and I usually get them muddled

Walking age - yes as they were both distinctive - DS1 2 weeks before first birthday, DS2 2 weeks after first birthday

I'm a bit more vague about first words etc

RagzRebooted · 30/07/2022 20:31

I remember weights and times of day they were born. Not days of the week any more.

I don't remember when they did anything though, if you asked me what age a baby starts to crawl I'd have a wild guess but probably be wrong! DH remembers more from when they were little than I do. I blame having 3 in 4 years! They are 12,14 and 16.

Nope. I remember their first word. And I remember my son didn't get any teeth til 13 months. And walked independently at 18 months (he's a personal trainer now so no reflection on his physical abilities). That's it.

Oblomov22 · 30/07/2022 20:44

I don't remember anything. I need to look it up. Some people remember everything.

MarthaMayWhovier · 30/07/2022 20:48

I know what DC weighed at birth, what day of the week it was and how long the labour was. I also know he walked 2 weeks before his 1st birthday.

I don't know when he first sat up, stood or spoke or what his first words were.

I'm a health care professional working with children and I ask alot of parents this question. Most know it roughly. If the child hit milestones at a fairly typical time it's much easier to forget.

Most people remember if their child's milestones were really early or really late.

My mum can take me round the garden and tell me where and when she bought each plant and what state of health it was in at the time. Me and my sibs birth stats, not so much 😂
