Parking next to someone

I am sitting in my car in a supermarket car park which is half empty. I just needed to reply to a text before getting out. A stupid woman in a big 4x4 has just
parked in the space next to me and is very close which means I will have to carefully squeeze out of my car.

WTF do people do this? There are loads of empty spaces! I'm not near the shop entrance. Opposite me I can count 24 empty bays all in a row and there are plenty of other spaces free.

But the hypothetical car that needed the extra space could just as easily be the car that's already parked Trying20!! Surely you just park at least one space away from any cars already parked if you want to be considerate, that leaves extra space for everyone unless someone chooses to park right next to you, in which case they clearly don't need extra space? I don't get your logic either I'm afraid Confused

@Cantbeliveyoufakeit nothing tells you that the space will stay empty though. Some one might park in between the two cars. If @Trying20 is leaving before the first car, they will find a car parked next them when there is an empty space just one further…..

There are so many IF…..

The best you can do is park correctly. Well within the lines rather than on the edge - which makes it very hard for anyone to go in and out.

Some people, like myself, might prefer to have more space to go in and out. But I would never expect people to tie themselves in knots like so many on this thread to leave a space, no space etc…. It’s a car park. As far as I am concerned, it’s nice to be able to have some space to go in/out but if there isn’t 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️. That’s just life.

you have misimaged but thats not the point regardeless.

the point is if there are 10 spaces and a car is parked in 4 and you park in 5 when the others are empty you have DELIBEREATLY removed that cars easy access for no reason.

You are using the reasoning that non existant cars that may or may not arrive may also need space but if you parked in 2 or 6 there would STILL be plenty of space for these imaginary cars.

All you have done is inconveniance the one person who definately DOES exist and need that space.

But by parking where you want, you are passing the baton off "Where is the right place to park?" to the next person to come along. It's not up to you to try and pre-empt every possible situation that may happen AFTER you've parked. By parking considerately for the person already there (eg. not right next to them in a load of empty space) then you can absolve yourself of every hypothetical situation for people coming to park after you. Parking for an actual situation in front of you (leaving someone space regardless of whether they may need it or not) is much better than parking for any number of POTENTIAL situations.

Its not 'potentially' it way replying to my message of what does happen trying to explain why they do that.

Theres no POTENTIALLY in me needing more room, I do FACT thats WHY I parked specifically away from other cars. I mean I go out of my way to leave extra room it requires the most basic of common sense to see and process that.

The only thing in this senario that matters is the FACTUALITY that someone parking unessacerily close has inconvieneced the only car there... nothing else in this senario that 'could' happen matters at all because the one thing that IS happening is all that you can know.
