If you have l an outdoorsy family what do you do? How do you do it?
We're such a disorganised family, the type with bags for life at the beach...!
Not looking for tips as such (yet!) just interested in what other families are doing... Dc aged 9 & 11, enjoy being outdoors but I'm clueless... We live on the outskirts of a small city but have plenty of green areas around us..

Backpack: anything by Macpac.

For small backpacks for kids mountain warehouse or decathlon are cheapest. Get ones with a front pocket and maybe a water bottle net pocket on outside. Can upgrade to Berghaus or north face etc. later on if need be. Karrimor is owned by sports direct so is quite cheap (but not necessarily any better than mountain warehouse).

If your kids are asa stage 3 they are not good enough swimmers to be swimming in the sea in a 2:1 ratio with your DH. A paddle and messing about fine but don’t expect they’ll be able to be managing to swim properly or be strong enough to get themselves out of trouble if they’re out of depth.

I have a mountain warehouse 30l backpack that is the comfiest thing ever! Find what fits you best- if you’re trying them on in a shop ask to put a few heavier items in it to get an idea of fit when loaded.
