Well that's a surprise

It's ok to have different opinions.

agree on that

Either be fully inclusive or be exclusive. Don't virtue signal and pretend to be inclusive.

I just don't understand where the line is on this? surely everyone has a different line & it's impossible to satisfy all.

dostyh · 28/07/2022 11:09

so representative of society

not

GirlInACountrySong · 28/07/2022 11:10

Why do people seemed to be outraged that Victoria's Secret exists?

What's wrong with it? What's wrong with petite girls selling underwear in small sizes?

BloodAndFire · 28/07/2022 11:15

slashlover · 28/07/2022 10:43

You can't moan about their sizing and then not show diversity of sizing in the video.

Hang on - you think this video has too FEW obese people in it?

When I hit that stage where I was self conscious I tried to change my body shape with every quackery diet trick going. Plus missing meals. Because I was short 5 1" with 32b cup I thought I was fat at 8 stone.i had thunder thighs . The magazine's back in the 70s glorified stick thin which I could never achieve. I was a size 6-8 . The yo-yo dieting for many years mucked up my metabolism photos of me then showed me in oversized shirts and baggy jeans. There's one photo of me a friend sent walking along a beach abroad with my second child a toddler I was tanned, topless totally unaware of the camera. I honestly wondered why my friend had sent me a photo of a random stranger.

My brother was anorexic for a few years those were scary days. He stopped eating properly aged 15.

I like the positive lyrics. If you go onto you tube read the comments they're enlightening too

What an absolute load of shite, its just a look at me video like the rest of the utter shite out there nowadays.

durellh · 28/07/2022 11:17

My 16 year old is naturally thin with big breasts - as are a few of her friends.

what does this have to do with how Victoria Secret models look though? I used to model, the vast majority of teenage girls are not 5ft 11 with 24" waists & great bone structure, let alone women in their 20s & 30s.

VikkisBikini · 28/07/2022 11:18

I love it! And I am as cynical as they come. Good tune, girls with diverse range of body shapes. Not sure about the end with the little girls, what was that about? Love the fact that she says that Victoris'a secret was made up by a dude chasing in on girls' body issues 😂

Ok well OP hasn't answered why she thinks it's a good idea to show it to our daughters.

For me, aside from the content, I have an issue with encouraging young people to be 'led' by these 'influencers'

“Skin and bone”?

Body shaming is never OK.

Jax is a singer not an influencer

Heroin chic came into fashion when I was modelling & I was told I needed to lose weight. I had a BMI of 17

VS has links to Epstein? Where can I watch this documentary?

durellh · 28/07/2022 11:21

VS is well know for shady behaviour

VikkisBikini · 28/07/2022 11:21

I think it was her telling the little girl not to get sucked up in the falseness of it all

MsFrenchie · 28/07/2022 11:23

And suggesting that being obese is somehow better than being slim is a terrible message. Trying to normalisé unhealthy weight is pretty poor.

And suggesting that being obese is somehow better than being slim is a terrible message.

who is suggesting that?

durellh · 28/07/2022 11:29

I wasn't slim as a catwalk model, I was very thin. I was naturally thin too luckily but would have had to starve to lose weight. I'm a healthy BMI now & filled out due to age & dc, I'm still slim though.

durellh · 28/07/2022 11:27

who is suggesting that?

The singer in the video who describes VS models as “skin and bones” and then featured obese dancers.

GalactatingGoddess · 28/07/2022 11:33

In reality, a couple of the VS Models have opened up about their diets before a show and it is encouraging extreme dieting and being past the point of a naturally slim woman with big boobs.

They are often skeletal, which is not 100% natural for a lot of them. Doesn't mean it's not natural for some women but for the majority of the models they have to work hard to fit into the narrow body type that VS has glorified for a long time. Plus implants and surgery etc.

It's a catchy simple tune to open up the eyes of young women and men.

VikkisBikini · 28/07/2022 11:36

@MsFrenchie what's your issues with her using the metaphor 'skin and bones'? It's true the VS models are uncannily skinny and a 'skin and bones' aesthetic is used to market VS products. The video features a range of body shapes. Love the ending too if that's her little girls. Well done Jax!
