Public service announcement - Do Not put Veet on your flaps

Repeat. Do Not put Veet on your flaps.

Yeah you know that, and I know that. Except I didn't listen to myself. And when the inevitable burning started I decided to try to front it out for the 3 minutes. When I eventually rinsed, my flaps on fire 🔥 and the hair still there, I decided to shave instead. Biiiiiig mistake 😭

Currently looking for a bowl of ice big enough to sit my fat arse into. Learn from my mistakes people. Even when you think you know what not to do.

I once used Veet the day before I was going for a reunion dirty night in a hotel with late dp after getting back together due to him having flounced to live in a static caravan at his mum's Skegness in the middle of winter. I was in agony & every time he moved an inch closer to me in bed I moved an inch away, he thought I'd gone off him 🤣

CadburyCrunchy · 25/07/2022 01:20

@Rockbird why on earth did you put veet on your flaps? You wouldn't usually have hair there anyways... hope it gets better soon x

mathanxiety · 25/07/2022 01:47

Just wear boyshort swimwear.

Rockbird · 25/07/2022 02:56

@CadburyCrunchy It wasn't a conscious decision. I just distractedly rubbed my little pink sponge (that sounds far ruder than it should!) all around and then realised my mistake. In the heat of the moment I forgot that my suffering was in vain and it all got a bit chaotic in a Fawlty Towers kind of way 😖

Remember, spot test, spot test and spot test.

l’m fine with Veet Sensitive all over that area, flaps and all. I halve the suggested time and “coax” the hair away with a Venus razor as opposed to the plastic thingy provided.

Shower afterwards with one of those nylon things you buy in Boots and hair conditioner instead of shower gel. I know it sounds odd using conditioner where there is no hair but it really does sooth.

Result - a smoothie and no frozen peas required.

Remember all our skin types are different.

tartancutlery · 25/07/2022 06:44

Oh dear poor you. I used the 'sensitive face' one straight before an unexpected work do and burnt my whole moustache area. Was a very painful experience not to mention I was worried it might scar. Was properly burnt and scabbed over the next day.

I must have cast iron flaps as I've used it on my flaps before and no issue.

Same!! Face however is a completely different story. I ended up with chemical burns after using veet sensitive facial hair remover, and then to follow the worst acne I've ever had

Apples3885 · 07/10/2023 23:04

Honestly I wish I had read this thread about an hour ago. Jesus Christ I can’t even pee. Didn’t even think the flaps got a dosing but the sting doesn’t lie. Please tell me my flaps will be fine in the morning 😭🔥🔥☄️

FictionalCharacter · 07/10/2023 23:28

Blimey @NellNorth , what kind of wedding (apart from yours) needs you to tidy up your fanny before you go? 😁

Argh, zombie thread!

Application of Vagisil (half a tube!) has calmed the fires considerably but yes, I was walking like I'd lost my horse.

All things considered, I've decided to grow it out HmmGrin

A wise decision. Free your bush!

Redruby2020 · 08/10/2023 02:41

I've said this for years and been told by other women that it was ok to use it there, no way.
I had my first Brazilian wax not long ago and it's the best thing I ever did!

NellNorth Im intrigued as to why if you were going to a friends wedding you decided to tidy up! I only do my hair and makeup, am I missing something

I have to admit I was thinking the same, but when I was thinking when I saw this thread flaps was another name for breasts and couldn't work out what hair to remove there, I can't imagine ever removing hair down stairs

Deathraystare · 08/10/2023 08:40

@toooldtocarewhoknows

Thanks for that. I am at work and nearly crying!!!

StarlightLady · 08/10/2023 09:07

@WandaWonder - You never know! I’ve had sex at a friend’s wedding (in private, l hasten to add) which was certainly not planned when l set out that day 😀.

I’ve never known boobs to be referred to as flaps, ever. It could cause some serious confusion in certain environments. I’m also surprised you can’t imagine removing hair? Really? Plenty of us do it. Some women don’t, it’s a personal choice thing, but not even able to imagine it?

Sorry I thought it was pretty obvious, I can't imagine removing hair on me and in me, myself and I

I feel I need to add yes I am well aware there are people who remove hair all over their bodies, I still can't imagine doing it myself

Rockbird · 08/10/2023 09:15

Oh my goodness, I'd forgotten about this. Am pleased to report that they have fully recovered and I have learnt from my mistakes 😀

CurlewKate · 08/10/2023 09:22

Hmm. Sounds painful. But at a risk of sounding like a humourless feminist-please don't say "flaps".

Wid · 20/07/2024 15:13

Does everyone googling “Mumsnet Veet burn” find this thread?
Comedy gold, especially the Amazon review 😭

ShrillSiren22 · 24/07/2022 17:02

I’m now wondering if my minge is made of a different material to others as I always Veet the hell out of it and it’s always been fine. I do my arse crack with it too.

Same, and i leave it on for 11 mins 🙈

JohnTheRevelator · 21/07/2024 17:37

I can't use any brand of hair removing cream anywhere! Without fail,it always brings me out in a rash.
