What are your barely related celebrity connections? Not the "I'm Bruce Springsteen's Sister " type but the much more loosely connected "Friend of my Uncle's milkman's brother" kind?

About 20 years ago I worked with someone who was at school with Dermot O'Leary. She wasn't still in touch with him then, though.

Gita of ex EastEnders fame occasionally shops in our local food centre. She looks a bit mardy, but then so do I!

That's all I've got. Grin

recklessgran · 23/07/2022 20:10

Eric Clapton taught DH how to play 12 bar blues when they used to hang out jamming together on their guitars - this was before he was famous though. Eric - not DH!

The man who wrote the Wombles theme used to live opposite us, but not while we've lived here.

Mike Batt! His Mum was my brother's geography teacher (my brother been mentioned twice on this thread).

PiggyPlumPie · 23/07/2022 20:11

Terry Scott was a few years above my dad at school.

An ex-boyfriend's cousin used to nanny for Fergie and got shouted at by the Queen for running across the grass at Buckingham Palace.

My MIL is great friends with Oliver Jeffers (kids book author) dad, they taught together. Thus we have a couple of bits of his art. The dad is a lovely bloke.

A friend of mine used to work in films and once had the job of trying to locate Peter O'Toole and Anthony Hopkins and persuade them out of whatever bar they were in. This was during the filming of The Lion in Winter. They were pissed as newts every single day.

He said Katherine Hepburn was absolutely lovely.

Anthony Hopkins still sends him Xmas cards.

The landlady of a bedsit I lived in had been good friends with Ted Hughes' sister Olwyn.
