Would you enjoy going on holiday with just your kids without your dh?

I enjoy it when dh comes on holiday with us but it’s more relaxed if he doesn’t

We've done it and enjoyed it. Enjoy holidays with DH as well but it's a different vibe when it's just me and the children.

We have each done it several times due to work commitments and it’s been fine

I have always enjoyed being with my kids through their different stages

I did. My wonderful husband has limited mobility and we were all far more relaxed if I did “family” holidays with the children alone. We have pets, too, who were far happier at home with dad than in boarding.

We always went away as a couple, separately, though. Mostly driving or water based, looking at beautiful scenery and enjoying lovely hotels and restaurants, which until they were late teens would have bored our children stiff.

it’s begun again: I’m going camping with our eldest’s young family and her younger sibling later this year. Grandad just can’t manage it but he and the animals will enjoy the peace and quiet at home and the photos.

For me it's depends where we were going and how long, but yes I can definitely think of scenarios where I'd be more relaxed without him

No I get lonely. Plus I'm the miserable one and he's good fun and chivvys us along. Still does my head in though.

I think it is fine, I went sometimes just with my mum because my dad was self-employed for a while and couldn't take time off/

I often take my toddler away for a long weekend and we're going away for a week together in September alone to enjoy the last opportunity of him not needing his own plane seat. It's so much fun.

I’ve been considering this yes, not because I don’t like DH or want him around - but his job is quite restrictive and I can be far more flexible with leave. I quite like the idea of going alone or just with another (childless) friend.
although I wouldn’t do it yet bc they are both under 5 but in a couple of years then I def think I would do it!

Yes! I'm going away next week with just the kids. Can't wait! I like DH but a bit of breathing space is fine. I also like being in sole charge of the kids. I hate it when 2 adults try to parent at the same time... it never quite works and causes friction.

I take mine away once or twice a year by myself. I quite enjoy it.

I take my DC away on holiday without DH regularly. But we all prefer it when he comes too.

I think I would. I sometimes find it easier when it's just me and them. I just get on with things and pick my battles. I find DH clashes with them over thing that aren't worth clashing over, especially on holiday. We have had lovely holidays all together, but I think I'd be perfectly happy to take them on my own if I had to.

DH works all over the country. In the holidays if he's somewhere interesting the kids and I go and stay in his hotel for a few days, use the pool and explore during the day while he's working then meet up for dinner in the evening.

I'm thinking about next year after a stressful
holiday abroad this year. My MIL always goes abroad without her husband and I think that’s what I will have to do. My husband is just like his dad, they don’t like the queues in the airport and all the waiting around. I was mortified at his huffing and puffing and swearing whilst waiting to board the airplane. My children on the other didn’t moan once! Will also solve the problem of getting somebody to have the dog.

I'd enjoy it more with DH there, but if he couldn't come for some reason it would still be fun with me and the DC.

Yes, but he works off shore. So for example, now at the start of the hols he is away and I am going camping next week with dc.

If we always waited for him we’d never do anything as his work pattern doesn’t
always line up with school hols and I’m a teacher.
