Low dose antidepressant for migraine?

Has anyone got any experience with this? After trying everything I can think of (various treatments from GP, supplements, osteopath, acupuncture, mri to rule out tumour) I’m at my wits end.

So I’m wondering about asking for a low dose antidepressant. Maybe the headaches are down to anxiety/stress. Any help welcome!

OP it was my only symptom too for about three years, and it impacted hugely on my day to day life. Then other symptoms crept in such as insomnia, tiredness and hot flushes. When I sought treatment for them in the form of hrt, my migraines stopped within a couple of weeks. An increase in headaches (including migraines) is a recognised symptom of Peri-menopause. I think the key is finding a doctor who is open to considering hrt as a possibility (often not easy). It may not be that at all, but if it is down to hormones, hrt can balance them out and sort out the root cause, rather than trying to just deal with the symptoms.

Have u tried diet and exercise, meditation. Mine used to be horrendous. I used to get the aura, blurred vision, vomiting and paralysis in one of my eyes. It would wipe me out for 2 days.

I decided I didn’t want pills so changed my diet . Stopped the processed foods, shop bought ready meals, caffeine and alcohol. Started learning to cook everything from scratch. I started exercising more and doing yoga and walking which helped
I wanted to find out what my triggers were so did a bit of a diary. I found mine are stress and coffee, also the day before I’m due on.
it doesn’t work for everyone but definitely worth a try if u haven’t already. I still get them but extremely rare now.
hope things improve for you x
