Totally understand if you got health conditions or burn or got small kids

However, I'm in North. It's v hot. I'm ok. No moaning. I can sleep. Can't get over all the drama and moaning about the heat!
Feel like im a lone voice!

And how many have been started by humans.....

All of them - it's called climate change.

Magnolia08 · 19/07/2022 22:32

Yes you are. HTH.

I was on about more the fact that the majority have been started by BBQs and the like...... Not quite the same as the Bush fires that Australia suffers from.

ClocksGoingBackwards · 19/07/2022 22:37

No you’re not. My area got to 38degrees and I’m far more comfortable than I am for months at a time during winter.

EmmaH2022 · 19/07/2022 22:38

Shall we have a related tune while we wait for OP

I'm with you OP, I don't personally find it too hot, although I know objectively it is very hot - I adjust to heat quite quickly and am able to work inside so haven't been bothered by it. I've also been able to sleep well.
I don't really understand all the individual fuss about it - presumably people go on holiday to hot countries?

ReeseWitherfork · 19/07/2022 22:43

Total contradiction. How can you be the “lone voice” of not talking about something? Plenty of people coping with it just fine and they’re say in silence at home not talking about it.

Yodaisawally · 19/07/2022 22:43

Moot point, the difference is being on holiday!

Eatthecake80 · 19/07/2022 22:47

I normally like the heat,I’m also up north but todays weather is weird,it wasn’t the sun glaring that was bad,it was the wind heat, can’t really explain it other than it felt like I was was being blasted with a huge hairdryer on full heat!

No. I went to Oz travelling in my 20s and the 40 we had in the desert was unluckily high for the time of year.

I have been to Miami for work in summer. It was horrendous.

my mum is from a hot country. She doesn't go back and can't cope with heat here.

not all of us go on hot holidays, no.

I think that was even the issue with the majority of the California fires, I think they never catch these people.

MattoMatto · 19/07/2022 22:51

I’m in the North - 38 degrees today. I like hot weather (and, yes, a previous poster is spot on in my case - I get dramatic about being too cold) so in and of itself, I’m perfectly happy with it. But obviously it is extremely concerning as a symptom of changing weather and climate conditions. If it was a freak heat wave and no more, I’d be enjoying it, but it obviously is not.

Clarabe1 · 19/07/2022 22:52

It’s uncomfortable but by Friday we will be moaning about the rain. God almighty there are some drama queens on mumsnet.

TerryChoc · 19/07/2022 23:26

So, to clarify, you’re moaning about moaning?

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 19/07/2022 23:33

I bloody love it, I don't get why it annoys people so much that I am happy in it. Yes it has been over 38 most of the day, and yes I have been out in it and I don't have air con. I just love hot weather.

Do I love that other people are suffering, of course not and I feel very sorry for those that have lost their houses, that could have been any of us. I feel sorry for everyone that is having a shit time because of the heat.

But that doesn't mean I should pretend to be unhappy. When the temp goes back to 20 I shall go back to feeling cold so forgive me for loving it now.

Yes I agree with this. Someone complained it was getting unbearably humid at 30%. It's 76 here and enjoying the warm, still evening as a result. Only complaint is I just bit in to my lindor chocolates and the usually slightly softer filling spilled all over me as had turned to liquid. Sad I'll be back to layers tomorrow as I like being more scantly dressed

etulosba · 19/07/2022 23:49

Not quite the same as the Bush fires that Australia suffers from

You might be surprised. There are idiots in Australia too.

RampantIvy · 19/07/2022 23:55

A major incident has been declared in South Yorkshire after a number of large wildfires broke out in unprecedented temperatures – and spread to nearby homes. Six families have lost their homes in Barnsley as a result of a fire. Houses have been consumed by fire near Rotherham and roads were closed in Doncaster due to low visibility caused by smoke from fires.

Emergency services are stretched to the limit just now.

I tolerate heat well, but my home office was as hot as hades today.

ITriedToStopSwearingButICunt · 20/07/2022 00:14

Jeez, it's not all about your or anyone else's individual personal comfort though? Many will have died because of the heat. Crops will have been ruined. Buildings, crops and homes destroyed by fire. Pets will have died. Roads and runways have melted. 13 people, including 5 children have died swimming in open water. Businesses will have closed and lost money. Heavy rain and flooding are now likely which will cause further disruption and misery. And worst of all we've had a huge wake up call and undeniable sign that the planet is utterly fucked. Having heat like this in our temperate climate country is A BAD THING.

But you're OK, so hey ho.

SweetSakura · 20/07/2022 00:19

I don't mind the heat as such. But this is quite obviously compelling evidence that we are dealing with substantial climate change. No rationaland informed person can be "happy" about that.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 20/07/2022 00:21

A fine example of someone getting irrationally annoyed.
If I stop enjoying the heat will all those bad things stop?

It is ok to find positives in a dire situation.

Changemaname1 · 20/07/2022 00:23

its 34 degrees in my bedroom right now
yes I closed the windows and curtains all day and have a fan and blah blah blah .
its fkin awful

and iv lived in hot countries

if you are enjoying it then who am I to say anything however I think for a lot of people it’s been shite . Disastrous actually for some people

HeddaGarbled · 20/07/2022 00:27

I was on about more the fact that the majority have been started by BBQs and the like

Though the rumour is the Wellington one started in a compost heap.

ellieboolou · 20/07/2022 00:35

It's made me quite unwell, nor slept more than 3-4 hours for the last few nights, my kids are fed up as it's too hot to go anywhere / do anything unless it's inside with air con, my dog has really suffered, if it went on any longer I think I'd crack up.

My brother loves it and would take this weather over any other season, I think we come from different parents! It's definitely quite frightening to feel so overwhelmed with heat, like some find cold intolerable I guess.
