How to get red stain out of white dogs fur

Took the dog for a walk earlier, walked past a pizza restaurant and someone had dropped a slice where she promptly fucking rolled in it and in the 3 seconds it took to get her, she resembled the dog out of the date night movie

4 times in a 45m walk someone thought she was bleeding…I’ve properly washed her but she’s still stained 🙃

how long do we think she’s going to look like she’s from a slasher movie?!

Time and sunlight will fade it eventually… I mean I wouldn’t put Vanish on her or anything!
Some years ago, my DD draw a small rainbow on our very pale golden retriever with coloured chalk. It was there for MONTHS. I was so embarrassed when out walking him!

😁I love the idea of a chalk rainbow! Better then tomato sauce stained 😂

Maybe it would be easier to trim the affected hair off?

Possibly, she may end up looking a little scalped though 😂

custardbear · 20/07/2022 07:57

Also following as have a Samoyed puppy ... and kids 😂

Have you tried washing her with white vinegar? You can buy it at a spray for about £1. We use it to remove colour and smell from rolling in badger / fox / god knows what poo.

Spray it on, leave dog in garden if you can, to let it dry, then wash off with a dog friendly shampoo.

QuestionableMouse · 20/07/2022 08:03

I feel like applying fairy liquid to it and leaving her to soak for a bit might help. Just rinse it really well and maybe apply a dog conditioner if her skin/coat feels dry.

Or you could try a white dog shampoo - they're purple generally, may counteract some of the orangeness in the stain?

Just don't leave it on too long or you might end up with a purple dog. (I found this out the hard way with a horse with white socks! Had to deal with an emergency, came back and he had gorgeous pale lavender hair!)

I find a baby wipe kind of dulls down the colour and then it disappear ma quickly I have a dally who like to do a pre wash of the dishwasher 🤣🤣

Sunshine is pretty effective on tomato stains. At least it works on clothes, never tried it on a dog!

SheWoreYellow · 20/07/2022 08:08

Bicarbonate of soda worked on our carpet and wouldn’t be too harsh I don’t think?

Hotenoughtoburnasausage · 20/07/2022 08:08

We took our dhusky to York Maze. One of the dc used orange chalk from one of the maze games and did a Simba style arch across her forehead. Was there for ages!

Frazzled2207 · 20/07/2022 08:09

Agree sunshine is very good on tomato stains on clothing
do you have a groomer you could call for advice? They might be able to recommend a stain remover shampoo. This can’t be that unusual

titchy · 20/07/2022 08:15

Yep sunshine. Peg him out on the clothes line for the day.

Fluffygreenslippers · 20/07/2022 09:12

Head and shoulders should get the stain out without harming the dog. My dog once had a paint splodge on his for months as he squeezed past a paint tin.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 20/07/2022 20:57

Thanks all! She’s chosen to lay in the sunbeams for most of the day so hopefully that helped 😂 will try everything else this weekend!

all these daft dogs 😁
