Suddenly gone very dark here and a rumble of thunder

I'm in Dublin and I've just had to turn a light on in this room. I'm hoping for a good downpour as otherwise I might have to water the hydrangeas myself and the hose doesn't reach that far.

Still blue skies and lots of heat in the NE. Last time I felt heat like I did today was a holiday in Egypt. Except of course by this time in the evening in Egypt the sun had set.

In SE London it’s suddenly quite dull

temperature feels very oppressive and certainly more humid than yesterday

Longdistance · 19/07/2022 19:23

Bedfordshire, still sweltering hot but we have grey clouds. Looking like it’s going to rain.

HRTQueen · 19/07/2022 19:23

slight rain we are going outside

It's here and it's bliss!

But short lived 😪

Longdistance · 19/07/2022 19:26

And now there’s spots of rain 😁

SurreyMumOfOne · 19/07/2022 19:32

We've just had a couple of spit spots but they've evaporated almost instantly. It's humid.

However, there is A BREEZE! It's still about 30 degrees, I can't take the windows being closed anymore and I think outside is now as warm as inside, so we're enjoying the hot, humid breeze.

HRTQueen · 19/07/2022 19:34

Well that was an anti climax

about 10 drop of rain in SE London and now it’s extremely humid

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 19/07/2022 19:53

Down to 17 degrees here! And cloudy. Such a relief. I'm really looking forward to sleeping in actual pyjamas tonight. And we're forecast a high of 19 tomorrow. That's the heatwave over for Ireland!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 19/07/2022 20:00

I've just been out to bring in the bin and it's really lovely now, I'm not sure what temperature it is but it feels under 20C which is much more comfortable for me.

Who needs weather radar when we can track a storm as it passes over Mumsnetters. Grin I'm just sorry that it wasn't much rain for most of you, Greater London could really do with a downpour about now.

Just west of the M25 here and about two minutes of rain but the pigeons are sounding so much happier in the trees outside the window. I don't normally really like the pigeons but it's lovely to hear them now

MissMaple82 · 19/07/2022 20:07

Oh glorious 🙌

SurreyMumOfOne · 19/07/2022 20:09

RAIN. Actual rain, with rumbles of thunder, I don't expect it to last long.

Nordicmom · 19/07/2022 20:12

Rumbling and rain here too in Surrey tonight and thank god for that ! It was nearly 40 degrees earlier all day !!!! Grass and plants need the water so and all us a respite from the awful desert heat earlier . I do hope we won’t get that kind of weather for a long time again although I have to admit our new house has aircon in the master bedroom where I’ve been hiding for days most of the time and in the downstairs main open living area because of my illness that makes me not tolerate heat ,I get all ill on just normal hot days , also have a dog that’s not good with it either .

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 19/07/2022 20:13

@guestusername we had the same, it’s still 31° 🥵 here in northwest Wiltshire.

Vapeyvapevape · 19/07/2022 20:27

According to my weather app it's going to drizzle in 27 mins

DorritLittle · 19/07/2022 21:05

It's a chilly UK summer night here now after 33 today. Bliss.

CharlotteSt · 19/07/2022 21:20

Blimey! Massive crack of thunder, sky as dark as night and properly pissing down. For now...

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 19/07/2022 21:21

Birmingham, humid! Rain disappeared on the apps. No rumbles or rain 🥵

mrsjackrussell · 19/07/2022 21:24

Rained a little bit but lovely breeze here now. SE.

Davros · 19/07/2022 21:41

Raining here in NW London. And my sister says it's raining in New Malden
