Suddenly gone very dark here and a rumble of thunder

I'm in Dublin and I've just had to turn a light on in this room. I'm hoping for a good downpour as otherwise I might have to water the hydrangeas myself and the hose doesn't reach that far.

Norfolk- not a cloud in the sky and stupidly hot still!

Crazy isn't it?

Tisforptarmigan · 19/07/2022 16:43

North wales - blanket of grey cloud. Doesn't look like rain but it's now cooler outside than inside so curtains and windows open. So pleased

RhymesWithAntelope · 19/07/2022 16:46

Very brief downpour here, now it's even more humid and the sun has come back out (W Hants/Dorset)

KangarooKenny · 19/07/2022 16:49

Send it up north, we’re not used to the heat !

Downpour and a massive temperature drop 😀

Are you two in a different North Bristol to me?
a few minutes of moderate rain and now hotter than ever with extra humidity. 🥵

Maggiesgirl · 19/07/2022 16:50

Yep ours has been and gone in ten minutes

MintJulia · 19/07/2022 16:57

North Hampshire. It's clouded over, temp is down from 35 to 33, and it smells like rain. 🙂

Suetwo · 19/07/2022 16:58

Just coming up to 5pm here in Essex and it’s blue sky and sunshine. God, it’s so hot I could scream. Went for a walk a couple of hours ago (just out of curiosity) and felt so dizzy I thought I might faint. It isn’t just hot, it’s suffocating. You feel like you can’t breathe. Even in the shade it’s like someone is blowing a hairdryer in your face.

I’m in Guildford and it’s still a zillion degrees. Luckily we are at the ice rink and it’s so cold I’m wearing a jumper!

Just up the road from you and was so tempted to pay for the ice rink just to go in there - even though the 9 week old and the 23 month old wouldn’t actually be taking part 😁

We’re predicted a thunderstorm around 7pm I think. Weather app showing a 12 degree drop in an hour, bring it on!

soundsofthesixties · 19/07/2022 17:08

Sweltering here in S.E London. 33 degrees in my hall 🥵

Vapeyvapevape · 19/07/2022 17:13

@Suetwo Essex here too and it's unbearable, especially upstairs, I've opened the loft hatch to, hopefully, get rid of some of the heat. I might sleep downstairs tonight.

And I’m probably 10 miles east of you and bugger all happening except for a few drops of rain 🤬

SilverGlassHare · 19/07/2022 17:17

Very dark clouds in Oxfordshire right now - hoping for rain!

spiderlight · 19/07/2022 17:21

We had clouds, thunder, and a very brief attempt at rain a couple of hours ago (SE Wales). We got all excited, but the temperature in our garden has since gone up five degrees and the humidity has increased massively :(

anybloodyname · 19/07/2022 17:28

Please send it to South Derbyshire! 😫

mm40 · 19/07/2022 17:34

Gower - absolutely baking and not a cloud in the sky. Not humid at all. It’s beautiful and the sea is like a millpond.

Sweatymess2022 · 19/07/2022 17:42

Please send some to the East of England, 30 weeks pregnant and melting into a puddle right now.

We had thunder and lightning in Cornwall between 7:30 & 9 am this morning. Then it went really warm felt warmer than it was yesterday. In the past half hour it's clouded over again. Feels really muggy

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 19/07/2022 18:58

My DH just got home and said there was only about five minutes of rain in town, unfortunately those five minutes were during the walk from the office to the restaurant for lunch. Unlucky.

Here's a photo of the hydrangeas, still looking dry.

I’ve just felt a few drops of rain in the garden in South Oxfordshire. I’m not sure it will amount to anything more though.

Carrotmum · 19/07/2022 19:01

Thunder and lightning and very heavy rain up here, as far north as you can go on Mainland Scotland.

CharlotteSt · 19/07/2022 19:02

SheilaWilde · 19/07/2022 13:06

Send it here please! South East.

It's here and it's bliss!

ZooMount · 19/07/2022 19:04

SE and just felt some spots of rain. Still hot though.

North Bristol is a big place! We had a downpour for a couple of minutes but it was very welcome 🥵 it’s not nice now. I’m a big fat sweaty mess 😳

What I found weird was that the temperature went from 33° to 18° and back up to 32° in the space of about an hour 🤷‍♀️

Mrsfussypants1 · 19/07/2022 19:18

Northumberland here, the met office website showing a yellow warning for thunder/lighting between 4pm-8pm. Other sites giving a 30% chance. It has gone a little bit duller and hazy above me, but the distance I can see blue sky's. Hoping for some relief and a good night's sleep, I'm up at 5am for work and I'd love a good night's sleep 😴
